An Open Letter To My Boy Fam

Having a girl fam is great, but every girl needs her boys.

An Open Letter To My Boy Fam

One of my favorite parts about being Greek is having a Greek family. It was always the one thing about rushing that I was the most excited for, to have that bond.

Inside your sorority, you get your own little family that usually consists of your G-big, your big, and your little. You cannot help but love them immensely because they are perfect, duh.

Outside of your sorority, you get a boy family. If you or a member of your girl family just so happen to fall in love with certain frat boys, they can become your big, little, and twins. Your family gets that much bigger, and it's what I love most about the Greek system.

You're actually a family. You are there for each other, you spend your weekends with each other, you genuinely care for these people.

I am lucky enough to have a boy big, twin, little, and nephew. I don't think I can even put into words how amazing these men are, but I'm going to try.

To my Greek Boy Family,

You guys aren't really the super mushy, gushy types, but I am so let me just tell you, I love you guys so much.

You are all the sweetest, yet scariest people I know. I'm thankful for that, though, because I don't scare you guys as much because you're just as scary as I am.

It's nice having a group of guys that I know I can always count on to be there for me whenever I need you. Not every girl is lucky enough to have guys to go to like that, and I'm really blessed for that.

I cannot even explain how happy I get when I see you guys because you are just so much fun to be around I can never have a bad time.

What's great is you don't have any obligation to put up with me like you all do, but you let me do it anyways.

Thank you for always answering my 2 a.m. phone calls and absurd amounts of texts, and always letting me come kick it with you guys every time I ask.

Thank you for letting me complain about other guys and things making me mad or sad.

Thank you for always sharing your drinks with me when I drink all of mine, and for always playing the songs I request even if you don't want too.

Thank you for never judging me, and for always letting me know the stupid things I did last night.

Even though most of our time spent together happens on the weekends, it's still time well spent.

I have never met anyone more entertaining than you guys, and I'm lucky to call you family. I could laugh with and at you guys forever.

I know you guys have so many littles, twins, and bigs, but that doesn't matter to me. I just feel honored that I get to be one of them to you.

I am a big, sappy senior with a lot of emotions, and thinking about leaving this school and you guys makes me want to cry like a little baby.

It's okay, though, because I know that we will always be family and the memories we have will never fade.

Also, I'm crazy and will never let you guys forget about me so there's that.

I love you guys, thank you for being dope.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
