An Open Letter To The Big Hearted
righttorty.org

"The people with the biggest hearts always suffer the most." A quote we are all familiar with hearing. We know how the media typically wants you to think when you have a big heart, and little do they EVER focus on the positive outcomes of when you have a big heart. Media in today’s world usually has their focus on the negative, horrific things that happen in day-to-day life, but I am here to change your outlook for the day. Because when you have a big heart, you experience so much more than just magnified hurt; you experience magnified everything!

Happiness. When you have a big heart, this emotion is consuming. Just imagine for a second feeling something from the tip top of your head to the end of your toes; that is what happiness does when you have a big heart. It takes over your entire body and you experience something that is pure. A feeling that makes your tummy tingle, and that gets you on a high that is addicting. A feeling you not only miss, but you crave it. Pure happiness brings your whole being to a state of enthusiasm. We feel everything so deeply. We just don’t feel things in our heart, we feel them in our soul.

Speaking of soul, let’s talk about romance. The way they gaze into your baby blues, and you stare back into those seas of chocolate. The puzzling door that leads to their heart; their happy place. Or even when they wrap their arms around you, and you return the favor. You don’t just feel the squeeze; you feel their heat, their breathing, even better; their heart beat. You are blessed with the opportunity to experience someone else’s heartbeat. And by doing something as simple as embracing them. Oh boy, don’t even get me started on the kiss. The moments when your lips lock. In that moment, everything else disappears. The whole world around you literally comes to a halt. The only thing on your mind is this moment. The way the heat from their lips touch yours, and the slow introduction of the silky hands caressing your cheek. Thinking about all the lovely compliments that escape those enticing lips. There is nothing like it. Nothing like the arousal or passion we big-hearted people feel. And from something so simple. Something so many people take for granted.

And the one you all have been waiting for, pain. The whole reason people dread having a big heart. When we get hurt or go through pain, it is numbing. The days blur together and everything is irrelevant. You forget to eat, and all you do is sleep. Pain flows through our veins and the only way to rid of it is to drain yourself. Complete and utter draining of yourself. Not till you are on the brink of physical break down do we notice we need to heal. And that’s the scary part, what if we don’t fix it?

Having a big heart is truly a blessing and curse. From all the good to bad, we go through a large spectrum of emotions. Feeling everything so deeply and whole heartedly is seriously a gift. And it is a valid question, would we want to change the fact that we have a big heart? And I can answer confidently "NO" I would not change a thing about my heart, because at the end of the day, it makes me who I am. So we all need to give our big hearted friends a big ol' hug and thank them, for sticking around regardless of whatever may have happened. WE LOVE YOU!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
