Dear Kyra,
I am so incredibly proud of you and everything you have accomplished so far in your life. I will always be supportive of your life choices. As your best friend, I promise to tell you, honestly, how I feel about you traveling the world.
I remember when you changed your major to something you love, something that suits you incredibly well. I also remember the day that you told me you would have to study abroad. Of course, living without a best friend is hard, and I have done that before, but I knew you'll always come back to me and I'm incredibly grateful for a friendship like ours. They are rare and they are so meaningful.
Morocco is treating you so well -- it shows in your face, sheer happiness -- and I can see how much you're growing from afar. Thanks to Facebook, I get to share in your experiences and I check it every night to see if you've posted any new statuses or pictures about your experiences. Living vicariously through your travels and adventures makes me so happy to call you my friend. You are so brave and I can see that you are having so much fun. I love when we text emojis and share experiences through text because it makes me incredibly grateful.
I can't even believe how much of a supportive friend you are to me even though you are miles away and a whole ocean separates us. Whenever I need you, I know you'll be there at your earliest chance and I know that when you come back, your family and your friends (and kitten) will welcome you back with open arms (and open paws).
I can't imagine how hard it would be to completely leave your friends, family, cat and boyfriend behind to work on yourself and future career. I am a professional at the idea of playing it safe and that is why I am so proud -- unbelievably proud, actually. You've done something that many people have crippling anxiety about doing. You've pushed through all of those feelings and are living the dream this summer. I can't wait to hear all of your amazing stories when you come back.
Anyway, I can't believe I have such an amazing best friend. I get this giant sense of pride when I say that out of my three best friends, two have studied in another country and one of them is in Morocco studying Arabic under one of the only people in the world with a PhD in Arabic Linguistics. And seriously, learning Arabic is super hard and I've always been amazed at your ability to study hard, invest in your future and master that language.
I love you so much. Stay safe. Travel the world until you can't travel anymore. You're amazing.
Hugs from Ohio,
Jillybean
