Dear whomever this title reached out to,
As we grow up through life we interact with more people than we can probably keep up with, so why as human beings do we seem to hold onto the bad interactions we have with others? Why do we seem to let the foul, hurtful words of someone else lay restless in our minds?
Although I haven't lived a "full" lifetime, I've definitely met my share of negative people who have left their hurtful words implanted in my brain. After awhile we sadly start to believe the cynical things they tell us. We take their words and turn them into our own self-manipulation — we let our self-esteem suffer. Suddenly the opinion of those who talk down to us matters more than our own. The saddest part of it all is that the ones who don't lift us up, who knock us down and make us feel not good enough are the ones we put on the highest pedestal. They are the ones we love, they are the ones who we let in because we trust them and we ended up being betrayed.
I've finally learned after time and time again of being told I was good enough is that the ones who always tear you down aren't happy with themselves. They don't deserve the affection and love you brought into their life - they are the ones who aren't good enough. I've been the textbook definition of a perfect girlfriend to someone I loved dearly, but he was never anything but emotionally abusive. He tore me down and ripped me apart, for the longest time I couldn't understand why. Eventually, when I opened my eyes, I saw that no matter what I did for that relationship, he wasn't happy with himself so he could never be loved or love anyone.
So this is for anyone out there who is feeling lost, helpless, not good enough or feels like giving up:
Don't. Plain and simple. Don't. Everyone on this earth is a beautiful human being. Everyone deserve to be loved. Everyone deserves happiness. Everyone deserves to feel good enough. You don't have to believe the hurtful words that come from someone you love. The only opinion of yourself that matters is yours. Believe me, it's easy to fall victim to someone else's mind games. Everyone makes mistakes but that doesn't make you someone to give up on. Keep fighting your battles, keep proving everyone wrong. One day, you'll be able to smile at everyone who tore you down and show them that you conquered your life.

Sincerely,
Someone who is fighting this battle every day.
