A short letter of gratitude to my best friend

Dear sister,

By the the time this is published, you will be in a different country than me. I hope reading this might make you feel a little more at home (or if you're already totally loving it there, I hope this just reminds you of how truly lovely you are.)

Today I want to say thank you for being my best friend the last couple of years; I am so blessed by your presence in my life. People always said the older we got, the more we would get along. It's strange how true that is. Within the past four years we have both graduated high school, and attended the same university where we spent one year on the same grounds again before you headed off into the real world. It was in your early 20's and my late teens that we really started to become closer, and I am so grateful for that.

As a little sister, I was always a bit intimidated by your striking personality, your wise spirit, and your adventurous life. Now that I call you my best friend as well, I am instead proud of all of these things that make you, you.

As both of us get older, I feel I am (more often than I'd like) reminded of the fact that we will probably never live under the same roof again, and nostalgia sweeps over me. However, I am so proud of everything you are accomplishing as you travel, teach, and quite literally follow your dreams.
As you go out and taste freedom, have adventures, and revel in the life you are leading-- take pride in who you are, because you are strong, wise, and altogether amazing.

In the years to come, I know we will have physical miles put between us, but you are always the first friend I go to in times of emotional and spiritual need (or if I need to share social media posts and gossip), and I hope you would always do the same with me.

All my love,
your forever friend

Superman and Batman have nothing on being invisible with their superhero abilities. Here are some things that you could do while being invisible, because being invisible can benefit your social life too.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
