If you’re in college or live even remotely near the East coast, they are everywhere you turn. They haunt the streets of your city and the tan lines can be seen from every direction. That’s right! The one. The only. Chacos. Now, before you close this article out of disgust, bare with me, these shoes can do anything, and I’ll show you why. For those of you who have never heard of Chacos, here is the low down: Chacos, a type of sports sandal, are durable enough to endure different types of outdoor terrain (aka the greatest shoe of all time).
Chacos are the most versatile shoe ever created. These bad boys have taken me everywhere, through the Smoky Mountains, the beaches of Honduras, a sorority formal, three months of being a camp counselor (I wore them every day), and a good amount of funky themed date parties. They are the ideal shoe for any and every occasion. Wear them with a dress, wear them to that 90s themed date party for your roomates-cousins-boyfriends-neighbor, wear them any and everywhere. I sure have worn them to all of those. I love my Chacos for three simple reasons:
1. They are great for your feet.
Chacos have an amazing shape that support the natural arch of your foot. When I first put them on they hurt quite a bit, but I realized this was because I had been wearing horrible shoes like flip flops or slip-ons for two years just because they were popular. Chacos are an ultimate sports sandal so they are absolutely pro-foot health. Now I couldn’t imagine putting on a pair of foam flip flops from Old Navy. Yuck!
2. They are extremely durable.
After three months at camp hiking I have no idea how many trails, my Chacos are still in amazing shape. These shoes are basically indestructible. If the sole or strap breaks, the company will fix them for free! They are guaranteed to last forever. That’s right, let me say it again for the people in the back. This basically means free shoes forever! Break ‘em, they’ll fix ’em, no prob.
3. You can wear them anytime, anywhere.
Like I said before, I rocked my Chacos with a $500 gown at my sorority formal and I’ve never looked nor felt better. Chacos can been worn with pretty much anything. I have seen my fair share of Chaco weddings. What’s that? It’s cold you say? Not a problem, if you can wear socks with your Birkenstocks, you can wear socks with your Chacos. They are perfect for a rainy day because even when wet, they dry much faster and more comfortably than your Nikes.
These shoes are one of a kind. Wind, rain, snow, or sunshine, you can find me in Chacos. Don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate a good pair of heels or booties, but can I hike the Smokys or go creek stomping in five inch stilettos? Probably not. I could try, but I would hate to see the outcome.
At the end of the day, love yourself and love your feet. Join the Chaco Nation!
