It was just a normal night at work, when I noticed a fellow student walking up to the counter. He obviously went to the same college as me since he was wearing a hoodie with our school name on it. So I began to wonder as I waited on customers if I knew him or not. Unfortunately, my coworker was the one to ring him out. After getting a closer look, I realized I had never seen him on campus before. They began to have a conversation about Yellowstone since that was what was on his wallet. I couldn’t help but smile has I passed by to go back to filling prescriptions. I remember thinking, he’s pretty cute but I’ll probably never see him again.
Flash forward to a couple weeks later. My best friend messages me asking if I will go with her to a friend’s house. She was nervous since she had started talking to this new guy but didn’t want to go to his house alone. I didn’t blame her. Four guys lived at that house. Whom none she knew that well. So I agreed. I told her I would meet up with her that night after work. She was excited and so were the hosts. Unfortunately, when we got there, they were without power. So here we were sitting around about 100 tea light candles just hanging out having a good time. Later that night, the last member of the house came downstairs to join us. We began casually talking when all of a sudden I realized it was him. It was the same guy that was in the pharmacy only a few weeks before. We were talking about Yellowstone when it all clicked. We laughed and continued about the night.
Flash forward a year later and we are still together. Who would have thought that day at the pharmacy would be what kindled us together? Even though we technically didn’t talk to each other at the pharmacy, it’s what got us talking weeks later when we actually met each other. I cannot thank my best friend enough for taking me with that night. Our relationship has grown so much since then. You graduated and started a new job and here I am battling my way through my final year. Yet, you are still my number one supporter in everything I do. I can call you for just about anything whether it is to complain about work or cry about how stressed I am, you are always there for me. Even though you are six hours away, you never cease to amaze me. You still make me feel like I’m on top of the world. Even though you and I were a bit skeptical about the whole long distance relationship idea, it has only made us stronger. Every time we see each other, it’s a feeling like no other. The days in which we are together feel like hours and the days we are apart feels like weeks. I cannot thank you enough for everything you do for me. Thank you for always supporting and encouraging everything I do. You truly make life so much easier. Most importantly, thank you for giving this a chance and for loving me every minute along the way. Distance only makes the heart grow fonder and boy has my heart grown fond for you.
