"One Tree Hill" is not your typical teen drama. No, it is much more than that. It teaches you about life and love in a way that nothing else ever could. Well except for maybe real life experiences but that would require actually moving from the couch. "One Tree Hill" set the bar for a love like Naley and a friendship like B. Davis and P. Sawyer. Even though I will never be kissed by Nathan Scott in the rain I'm thankful for the wisdom that "One Tree Hill" has brought me and some of the quotes that I live by.
"But happiness is a mood and it's a condition, not a destination. It's like being tired or hungry. It's not permanent. It comes and goes, and that's okay. And I feel like if people thought of it that way, they'd find happiness a lot more often."
"Every once in a while, people step up. They rise above themselves. Sometimes they surprise you. Sometimes they fall short. Life is funny sometimes, it can push pretty hard. But if you look close enough, you find hope. In the words of children, in the bars of a song and in the eyes of someone you love. And if you’re lucky, I mean if you’re the luckiest person on this entire planet, the person you love decides to love you back."
"There comes a time when every life goes off course. In this desperate moment you must choose your direction. Will you fight to stay on the path while others tell you who you are? Or will you label yourself? Will you be honored by your choice? Or will you embrace your new path? Each morning you choose to move forward or to simply give up."
"Because it's only when you're tested that you truly discover who you are. And it's only when you're tested that you discover who you can be. The person that you want to be does exist, somewhere on the other side of hard work and faith and belief and beyond the heartache and fear of what life has."
"When your heart breaks you gotta fight like hell to make sure you’re still alive cause you are, and that pain you feel, that’s life. The confusion and fear, that’s there to remind you that somewhere out there is something better. And that something is worth fighting for."
"Love means giving chances when there are no more chances left to give."
"You know that romantic notion that all the garbage and the pain is really healing and beautiful and sort of poetic? It’s not. It’s just garbage and it’s pain. You know what’s better? Love. The day that you start thinking that love is overrated is the day that you’re wrong. The only thing wrong with love and faith and belief is not having it."
"Actually, it’s very rare to see in anybody, they give their hearts to each other, unconditionally. And that’s what true love really is. It’s not this fairy tale life that never knows pain, but it’s two souls facing it together and diminishing it with unconditional love."
"It’s hard when you miss people. But, you know, if you miss them it means you were lucky. It means you had someone special in your life, someone worth missing."
"You can choose to blame your circumstances on fate or bad luck or bad choices. Or you can fight back. Things aren’t always going to be fair in the real world. That’s just the way it is. But for the most part, you get what you give. The rest of your life is being shaped right now. With the dreams you chase, the choices you make and the person you decide to be. The rest of your life is a long time and the rest of your life starts right now."
"Remember, it’s only in the black of night that we see the stars, & those stars will lead you back home. So don’t be afraid to make mistakes, to stumble and fall, because most of the time the greatest rewards come from doing the things that scare you the most."
