One in a Million

What are you dreams? What do you really think the meaning of life is? Could you possibly believe that you were meant to go to school, go to work, then die? Could the amazingly beautiful intelligence that positioned the earth in a mathematically perfect distance from the sun (which keep in mind is a mathematically exact, burning circle of fire) want only for your existence to be but a fluttering spark in the presence of totally darkness? Would you reconcile that the precision, accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness that gave way to your biological birth was merely only so that you could experience fleeting moments of happiness, to few and far in between? To say that your existence is a miracle is an immense understatement.

Biologically we all know the story of our creation but have we really taken the time to analyze our conception? Let’s take a moment to break this all too forgotten scenario that we all at one point played a role in down, I mean it was us being conceived right? So basically this sperm cell came along and fertilized an egg; one male component and one female component. From the fertilization of the egg comes a period of about 9 months where cells divide and transform at such an astonishing and rapid rate that arms, legs, a head, organs, a circulatory system, hair, nails, eyes, eye-lashes, ears, a nose, lips, a digestive system and a reproductive system all form. So basically we can conclude from this that a simple sperm and egg cell come together, some magic happens, then there is this tiny body which appears 9 months down the line. Okay now if you don’t think that’s INSANE (in a miraculously cool way) then nothing is. Now let’s go on to talk about your consciousness; your likes, your dislikes, what makes you happy, what makes you sad, what makes you the individual that YOU are.

So just for arguments sake let’s say consciousness and the physical body are separate then at some point come together. A more favorable illustration is that of a soul and a body. So you have this awesome, amazing, individually astounding soul that decides to come to this, just as awesome body. Your soul or consciousness is everything that you are. You come to this body with a list of preferences, which came about... How? For instance, your favorite food could be pizza yet someone else might be repulsed by just the smell of a pepperoni and cheese. Black makes you happy, black makes me sad. I love smart-cars, you think they’re for dorks. Roller coasters are totally fun to me, for you someone would have to sedate you to even get your near that “horrific ride of terror.” It’s pretty cool to know that there will never be another person like you in the history of creation with exactly the same looks and same preferences. Come to think of it, that would make you one in infinity. That would make you the rarest thing in all of creation.

To be rare is to be unique. To be unique is to be special. To be special is to be worthy. Worthy of love, worthy of attention, worthy of admiration, worthy of joy, worthy of happiness. So as being something so unique, so special, so worthy anything therefore must be possible for you unless you think that it’s not. So we kind of went over how much of a miracle life is and since you’re very much a part of life you should see how you’re the biggest miracle of them all. So what are your dreams? What do you think is the meaning of life? I think you’re so special that you can be, do, or have whatever you want. I think you’re so special that the sun itself was created just to shine on you and give you light in the darkness. I think you should take time to really think about who you are and the impossible way that you have individually realized yourself here on planet earth. Dream big because your very existence makes anything you can think of possible. Think about it…

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
