I believe that everyone should experience and understand the value of hard work. The biggest lesson that hard work teaches us is that nothing in life worth having ever comes easy. I am sure many of your parents told you "nobody said life was fair" while growing up. Similar to this, nobody ever said life was easy. In order to achieve your goals, you must work hard and be dedicated.
If you are anything like me, you find it very easy to complain about having to work at something. The long hours and endless amount of dedication eventually get to everyone and make them wonder why they even bother, but the truth is, everyone works hard for a reason. Everybody's reason for working hard at something is different, but they all hold the same belief about their hard work. This belief is that the hard work is worth it.
Complaining about constantly working to achieve something is something that comes natural to many of us. It is a way of letting out of anger and exhaustion, which is perfectly normal. The next time you find yourself complaining about something and wanting to give up, just remember why you started in the first place. You started because you believed that this was something that was worth it.
In these times where you feel like it is time to quit, remind yourself that one day it will all be worth it. One day all of the hard work that you have put in will be worth it. One day it will all pay off and you will be happy. That day could be next week or it could be years from now, but it will come.
If you are unhappy with your health, spend some more time exercising than you normally would. If you want to have more than a couple cents to your name, work longer hours. If you want to get a good grade on an exam, study until you feel confident. If you want it, do it. I know this is sometimes easier said than done, but anything is possible if you try.
I used to be the type of person to just let things pass me by and not attempt to better myself. Somewhere along the way something changed in me and I began working harder at everything I do. I definitely have my fair share of complaints, but at the end of the day, all of the hard work and exhaustion is worth it to me because it makes me happy and I know eventually it will all be worth it. There is nothing more rewarding than witnessing yourself making a difference in your life or the lives of others. I am looking forward to the day when I am able to witness my success and be able to finally say "I did it" or "I made it".
