Motivation is the key to accomplishing anything and yet one of the hardest things in life is staying motivated. I mean think about it there are only 24 hours in a day in which we have to find time to eat three meals a day (if that) and get a good night's rest but at times it can seem like we've wasted an entire day because no matter how many things we accomplish or more specifically what we've accomplished there's always that thought in the back of our minds about how much more we could've done. Admit it, it happens to the best of us. I have those thoughts at least once a day but I certainly do my best to push through. Here are five tips on how to keep going:
Rule #1 : Resilience is EVERYTHING!
Now I know what you're thinking"it's easier said than done" but resilience is important and definitely doable. Whether you woke up on the "wrong side of the bed" or just had a rough morning do your very best to look past that. Think about all the wonderful things you can look forward to later on in the day and make that your focus instead of the not so great morning you had. Lay back down and get back up if you have to.
YOU CAN DO IT!!
Rule #2: Surround yourself with Positivity
It is absolutely important that no matter what you do, you surround yourself with positivity. Good Vibes ONLY! You are who you hang out with and that means that if you put yourself around negative people or "Debbie downers" you're going to turn into one because it only adds fuel to the lack of motivation you may already have.
Rule #3: Talk about your frustrations
Talk it out. Whether it's your best friend, sibling, significant other, or parent find someone you trust and vent! Go on a rant if you have to just be sure to get it all out, tell them about why missing breakfast ruined your whole day and why you no longer have the willpower to complete an assignment or why the low acceptance rate at your dream school means that there's no use in applying and therefore you''re going to change your career goal altogether. Whatever it is, speak up and let someone know because not only will you feel better but I guarantee you a great pep talk and that you'll feel ready and able to conquer the world!
Rule #4: Never forget to have fun
I know what you're thinking there's no time for fun, I'll get too caught up and probably end up procrastinating but that doesn't have to be true. We should all strive to "work hard and play harder" meaning that whatever our end goal is in life we should make sure that we have no regrets and that "work" feels like play, because we love it that much. If we're going to stress ourselves trying to cram a million tasks into one day then we mind as well make sure that all that hard work pays off.
Rule #5: Believe in Yourself
Yes ! I literally mean that you should "believe in yourself!" No matter how cliche it may sound it's definitely something that is necessary because you can't expect anyone to believe in you if you don't believe in you. Motivation starts with ourselves, as individuals we're in charge of the things we do and don't so in order to succeed in this world we must always be "DOING" something. There's only one of us, only one person that can do what we do, the way we do it and that's us. So when you look in the mirror in morning remind yourself that you're amazingly YOU, unique in each and every way and that someone out there can benefit from whatever it is that you can do & then go out and do that. LIVE!
