We all know the story of "Snow White and The Seven Dwarves"; a story of love and new friendships, but also of envy and hate. To refresh everyone's memory of the story of Snow White and The Seven Dwarves, there is a Queen that asks her magical Mirror on the wall everyday, "Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all", because the Queen fears that Snow White's beauty is finer than her own. And for many years the mirror answered, "You, my queen." But one day the mirror says that Snow White is the fairest in the land and the queen orders a huntsman to kill Snow White. The Huntsman doesn't have the heart to kill Snow White and tells hers to run away. Afraid, Snow White runs into the woods and finds a little cottage. The cottage belongs to seven dwarves and she befriends them. Eventually though, the Queen finds out that Snow White is still alive and disguises herself as an old woman and gives Snow White a poison apple and Snow White falls asleep until true loves kiss wakes her up. Somewhere along the line, the dwarves chase the Queen and she falls off a cliff to her death. A prince comes along and kisses Snow White and she wakes up and everyone lives happily ever after. All except the Queen that is.
"Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?"
I think the biggest problem that the Queen had wasn't her jealousy, but in her own self-confidence. She was so dependent on the mirror telling her that she was beautiful that when the mirror finally said she was not the most beautiful, she lost her confidence. Many people now a-days are so caught up with the next trend or are reliant on compliments from others that I think they sometimes forget to think about why they would act or dress in some way. Fads come and go everyday and people aren't always going to be there for you, but who you are and how you carry yourself is with you every single day. We don't need someone else telling us what to act like, what to wear, or how smart or pretty we are, what we all need is to wake up everyday happy to be us. Because you know what? There is no one in the world like you. Sure, others may play the same sport as you or maybe they even look like you, but your self confidence says so much more than your appearance. Once you learn to love what you do and who you are, the less it matters what others think.
