On Kindness And Malice:

Signs of Relationship Abuse

I'm going to start with an age-old argument, then state something very plainly: Girls and boys can be friends without sexual or romantic implications. We are all essentially walking meat sacks anyway, why waste your time with an antiquated assumption.

Recently, I had a “friend” say some very. . . degrading things about me to their girlfriend in an attempt to quell her unfounded jealousy. I was called “fat,” “ugly,” and essentially “undateable” by this person.

I am none of these things, and needless to say, I no longer associate with them.

I’m not writing this to complain, rather, I’m writing this to raise awareness.

If you need to degrade a person or friend to make your significant other feel better, chances are, you shouldn’t be dating them in the first place.

Yes, you love them, and yes, it’s nice to be in a relationship, but if at any point your girlfriend/ boyfriend/person threatens suicide because of some inane reason like, for example; being friends with a girl you aren’t dating, then it’s time to wake up and smell the signs of an abusive relationship.

As provided by Break The Cycle , warning signs of an abusive/unhealthy relationship are:

    • Checking cell phones, emails or social networks without permission
    • Extreme jealousy or insecurity
    • Constant belittling or put-downs
    • Explosive temper
    • Isolation from family and friends
    • Making false accusations
    • Constant mood swings towards you
    • Physically inflicting pain or hurt in any way
    • Possessiveness
    • Telling someone what to do
    • Repeatedly pressuring someone to have sex

If you know anyone or believe you are in an abusive relationship; talk to someone.

It doesn’t make you weak, it makes you strong.

The main thing anyone should take away from this article is that everyone is capable of malice and everyone is capable of kindness. . . sometimes, we can’t see which we’re given more of, as opposed to what we truly deserve out of life and love.

Taking the first step toward a healthier life is honestly one of the most terrifying things to do.

Whether it’s about weight loss, a spiritual journey, or removing a toxic person from your life; each of these things brings some kind of revolutionizing change to your soul, and to the way you think.

It’s important to remember that you are not alone. There is always someone who will listen to you, and care for you, even when you can’t care for yourself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
