To the older brother I never had, words can’t describe how much I appreciate you and how thankful I am to have you in my life. You’re not just my older sister’s boyfriend because I’ve now taken you in as my older brother. You’ve been there with me through more than you think.
You were the one who helped me when I was a scared freshman in high school and you were a senior. You helped me when I needed it most… especially with technology. Thank God for your technical skills because if I didn’t have you I’d probably have visited Best Buy and Verizon twenty times in the past year. You were always there to help me when I accidentally tracked a virus on my laptop or made a mistake with my phone, and you’d stop what you were doing to immediately assist, and you’ve done the same for my parents (since we're not all as technologically advanced as you are).
When I eventually moved off to college, I was a nervous freshman away from my family, and once again, you were only fifteen minutes away. You were the one who helped me throughout my freshman year of college with taking me on Walmart trips every two weeks so I never had to ride the bus, and you checked on me every now and then to make sure I was doing okay. You never had to do any of that, but you did it because you cared. When I needed a new refrigerator for my dorm… within 24 hours, you were at my dorm giving me your mini fridge.
You’ve given me your sense of wisdom and advice throughout these six years that I’ve known you, and many more to come. You've been there with me through big events in my life, with graduation, prom, my birthdays and moving into college. You're now someone my future boyfriend would have to meet and get approved by because you're considered to be a part of our family––so technically, your opinion matters just as much. Like my parents say, whoever I eventually marry has a lot to be held up to, because you’ve not only stolen my sister’s heart, but you’ve stolen my family’s heart. You’ve shown me how a man should treat a woman by being such a respectful individual who gives so much, to not only my sister, but to my family.
So I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for my family and I. I can’t thank you enough for buying me an eight pound bag of tater tots because you knew it was my favorite food, always being up to make late night food runs to Taco Bell or making pizza rolls at 12 a.m., being my own personal technical support, treating my sister with the utmost respect, giving her the love she deserves and treating me as if I'm one of your real sisters. I've always wanted a brother of some kind, and I'm extremely happy you're the person who has filled that spot in my life.
