It’s Okay To Cut Toxic People Out Of Your Life, No Matter What Their Relationship To You Is

There's only so much you can do when someone doesn't want to be in your life. You can try and try to reach out, but eventually, you need to stop. It's an inevitable fact of life that there are certain people you just have to cut off for your own well-being, no matter what their relationship is to you.

And guess what? That's absolutely okay.

You deserve to have people around you who care about you. You deserve to have people around you who actually want to know you and appreciate you for who you are.

You don't need those fake people in your life. You don't need those people who only acknowledge you when they want something or when they want to make themselves look good or when they want to be petty.

Those people are toxic. Whether they're family members, close friends, or any other kind of relation. No matter what your relationship is to them, that kind of behavior from someone is never okay.

That kind of behavior hurts, despite how insignificant it seems. It cuts deeply when this person that's supposed to be a part of your life just doesn't want to be bothered with you. It makes you question what heinous thing you did that caused them to alienate you.

Anyone who makes you feel that way is not worth having around. Cutting them out of your life is easier said than done, but it's vital for your mental and emotional well-being.

You can take baby steps towards getting them out of your life. Mute them on social media. Remove them from your phone contacts. Slowly, just start distancing yourself from them and you'll find that it's actually easier than you thought it was to ignore them.

It sounds harsh, but getting rid of people who make you feel miserable is the best thing you can do for yourself. The nice part about life is that you get to decide who's in yours. And you want people that are going to make you feel good about living your life.

And if the people you have to cut out of your life don't like it? Oh well, too bad.

But most likely, they won't even notice. And that's okay. They're the one who have to live with that.

But don't worry about those people who don't want to be bothered with you. They say the phone works both ways. But after so many missed calls, you just need to cut the cord and not look back.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
