It's Ok To Forgive But DON'T Forget

"People are constantly changing just like life and everything is always moving and becoming something else just like any relationship or friendship, it's a continuous cycle that makes everything different. "

It's common in life that we find ourselves in situations that we can't control but do our best to avoid. Friends can be temporary but the ones that are more likely to be permanent make you think a little bit more. It's the ones that you trust with your life and those times that you need them the most that they become family to you.

But, when something happens that changes the course of everything, you need to take a few steps back as you realize that this isn't the person that you've always known. People are constantly changing just like life and everything is always moving and becoming something else just like any relationship or friendship, it's a continuous cycle that makes everything different. Life never truly stops just because we do, and sometimes we need to sit for just a second to truly understand that.

When you know someone so well and something slightly changes in the friendship or relationship is startles you a bit as you realize that this person may not know you as much as you believe they do. This causes you to become angry and upset with the situation in itself and the person who is triggering these emotions for you. When these emotions begin as well as the fights, it's easy to place blame on each other. This marks the point when our relationships and ties with people start to become rocky and unpredictable.

Your best friend or your significant other could do something that changes just about everything in the future. They might approach you a few minutes later and apologize which is sometimes okay, but when it hits home it may take longer to heal from certain fights.

When you're told that "it's time to get over it" or "you shouldn't be that mad," those words just go in one ear and come out of the other. It's not what people tell you and decide how you should feel, it's your emotions and the way that you need to cope with situations that will be the only way to overcome these obstacles within life.

Over time, we begin to forgive those who have wronged us and some of us forget about what happened due to promises and guarantees that everything will be different. The importance of forgiving but not forgetting is so necessary within our generation because we allow ourselves to get hurt and repeat our past because we don't pay enough attention to our present. It's key that we understand that we need to remember the things that have affected us in the past to ensure that we learn for the future.

So always remember to forgive, but don't forget.

"It's one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself, to forgive. Forgive everybody."

- Maya Angelou

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
