The Ofo War Hymn

So goodbye to Ofo bikes on campus...

I have a confession: I've never actually ridden one of the infamous yellow Ofo bikes that magically appeared on the Texas A&M campus early this past spring semester. And even though I also wasn't the biggest fan of them throughout their stint here, the number of memes and punch lines that have resulted because of them allowed Ofos to meld itself into Aggie culture.

So when I learned the Ofo bikes would not be returning to campus with us next semester, I was admittedly disappointed, enough so that I decided to dedicate this article to them. I give you, "The Ofo War Hymn."

Good-bye to Ofo bikes on campus
So long to the yellow and the wheels
Good luck to dear old Aggie Spirit buses
They are now our only form of transportation

"We are a bike friendly campus"
That is the song they sing so well
So good-bye to Ofo bikes on campus
We're going to miss you all when
We-go-to-class
When-we-go-to-class
Crowded Buses Texas A&M!

*Repeat chorus*

Bring the Ofos back

(Repeat x3)

NOW

*insert awkward pause no one knows what to do with here*

Ofos are back on campus

(Repeat x3)

YAY!

Not to worry, Texas A&M released a statement saying the university plans to partner with a similar bike company called Veoride starting in 2019, but I think we can all agree we're going to miss those bright yellow eyesores at least a little.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
