With finals week upon us (believe me, it's freaking me out too), I've decided to take a look back on my second year at university.
Sophomore year can be a strange transition period for students. We are no longer the freshman, so our excuses of not being able to find buildings or classrooms. But we're not upperclassman just yet. We're still trying to figure out exactly what we want to do with our lives, and just getting a small taste of what being on our own truly means.
Sophomore year is challenging in a new way that many of us aren't used to. We're being trusted with new leadership roles, and trying to navigate how to fill in the shoes that were left to us.
Being in my second year means that the relationships I formed at the beginning of my college experience have grown and changed, just as I have. I've met new people, grown stronger with some of the people I already new, and let some relationships fall.
I've continued to grow since my freshman year, and I've seen everyone around me do the same. The things we learned about ourselves continue to shape us, and the choices we make will continue to influence who we will be out in the world.
Sophomore year has been interesting for me. I wasn't on campus for half of it, and coming back halfway through was a bit of a rough transition. However, through the support of those around me, I've fallen back into stride, and found myself around the people that I truly love.
Sophomore year hasn't been easy. Academically, things have been kicked into high gear as we prepare for courses directly related to what we want to be doing. In starting to discover who we want to be, we begin to know what it might be we want to do with our time.
It can be scary.
However, I wouldn't want it any other way. It is in this year that I have found my true passions. Sophomore year has taught me about myself, brought me closer to the people I already loved, and introduced me to all new people. I can't wait to be with these people as we continue on, and can't wait to see what next year will bring.
