What is love? According to Merriam-Webster, love is "a feeling of strong or constant affection for a person." Another definition they offer is, "warm attachment, enthusiasm, or devotion."
Maybe you were thinking of a person while reading that. Maybe your favorite pet, or the beach. What was I thinking of? Cheese.
Yes, cheese. Hello, nice to meet you, I love cheese. Think about it! Name some of your favorite foods--I'll bet you're thinking of pizza, or macaroni and cheese, or mozzarella sticks or a nice grilled cheese with tomato soup. But maybe that's just some of my list and you're sitting there thinking, "Actually, I really like spaghetti..." Well, a lot of people put cheese on spaghetti! So there you go, we all love cheese. But why?
First of all, there are so many kinds. Mozzarella is incredible and can be a simple cheese stick, or freshly sliced and paired with tomato, basil and balsamic vinegar in a delicious caprese salad. You can cook brie with some honey, slice up some good bread and have an instant meal. Cheddar is good for almost everything from a turkey sandwich, to a burger, to mac and cheese or even sliced up with an apple.
I think you see my point. So many cheeses, so many foods, such little time.
Everybody loves comfort food. There's a reason they call it "comfort" food! Think of some of the classic choices. Macaroni and cheese, chili (which you can top with cheese), lasagna is full of cheese, grilled cheese is a staple...the possibilities are endless. No matter how you choose to eat your cheese, it's bound to make you feel good.
And if you haven't started drooling yet, here are some amazing cheesy pictures.
On that note, I think we can all agree that we love cheese. To paraphrase Walt Whitman, "O cheese! My cheese!"
