Honestly, the eye doctor is an awful experience! From the awkwardness of the visit to the deadly machines. One of my least favorite things! Here's why it is so awful:
1. It's just awkward
What are you supposed to talk about in an eye doctors office? The range is from eyes to contacts to glasses. Do you have insurance? Well, I'm eighteen and have no idea because my mother handles that. What are you here for today? Obviously, I'm having issues seeing.
2. You're blind the whole time
I hate not being able to see and the first thing they ask is for you take out your contacts. I'll try not to run into the wall. Yes, I would love you to stick this bright light in my eye and now, let's dilate them.
3. The deadly machines
Once you are blind, they have three machines that you have to put your eyeball up next to. The first one flashes a white light in your eye, which doesn't help with you already being blind. The second isn't too bad because you just look at a house. The third is the worst! They have you sit in anticipation waiting for the tiny puff of air they blow directly into your eyeball. This does not help the whole blind situation. I'm convinced that the machines don't do anything.
4. Still blind
Now it's exam time, and you guessed it! You're blind the whole time for that too! You are fully in charge of what your vision will be like. So, if you get it a little too blurry then you have no one to blame but yourself. Does anyone else seem to forget all the numbers during the exam or is that just me? One was better, no, wait it was it was two. Can we go back to one again? Then they want to look at your eye with that horrible light and that blinds you too.
5. Eyes seem worse after
The eye doctor is the only thing that I come out of not feeling better. My eyes are itchy, watering, and irritated. Much like my mood when I leave. My eyes feel awful for the next week.
Thank you eye doctor, for making temporarily blind and making me be able to see all at the same time.
