If you've been keeping up with this year's presidential race, you know that most Americans are not happy. In fact, they're pissed off. Of the many candidates who entered the primaries, there are two who have managed to remain in the spotlight.
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
Something that both these candidates have in common is the lies they feed to their voters.
Donald Trump is not a conservative.
In 1999, he described himself as "very pro-choice". And again in January of 2015 when he said he was pro-choice but under certain pretenses such as rape, incest, or the living situation of the mother. And again in August 2015 when he said he was pro-choice and restated those same exceptions to abortion.
It wasn't until the first Republican Debate that his views changed. So convenient. The reason for his views changing? He said:
"Friends of mine years ago were going to have a child, and it was going to be aborted. And it wasn’t aborted. And that child today is a total superstar, a great, great child. And I saw that. And I saw other instances. I am very, very proud to say that I am pro-life."
Oh Donald you never cease to amaze.
But I won't stop there. Here are a few other things that Donald Trump has lied about throughout the duration of his campaign:
Donald Trump said that Wisconsin's unemployment rate was 20%. After simple fact checking, it was found to be 8.3%.
He said he was the only candidate in history to win 66/67 counties in Florida, when in reality, it's been done by John Kerry, Al Gore, George W. Bush, and Bob Dole.
He said the 2016 federal omnibus spending bill funded illegal immigrants crossing the border when really it was used to stop them from crossing the border.
He stated that he was polling higher than anyone ever has in upstate New York but according a Siena College poll, Hillary is leading 56% to 33%.
He insinuated that the U.S. exports nothing to Japan. The U.S. exported $62 billion worth of goods in 2015.
It's amazing that despite all these lies, there are still people believing that Trump will "make American great again." Also similarly interesting is how Hillary Clinton has managed to stay out of prison this long.
Hillary Clinton, also known as Killary or Crooked Hillary, claims she's a progressive but guess what?
Hillary Clinton is not a progressive.
A progressive is defined as a person advocating or implementing social reform or new, liberal ideas.
Hillary has stood behind Wall Street banks ever since her husband Bill Clinton was president and as far as we know, nothing has changed. Hillary has received millions in speaking fees from said Wall Street banks claiming that's what they offered when in reality, that's what she charged.
Wall Street's financial institutions are her biggest donors.
The Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) spent $700 billion in taxpayer money to bail out Wall Street banks.
Hillary claims to care about the welfare of America's middle class but she voted for this bill to go through. Why should American taxpayers be held responsible for Wall Street's mistakes?
Voters are familiar with the infamous email scandal by now but what about the investigation Hillary Clinton's State Department conducted by the International Business Times?
According to this investigation, Clinton's State Department increased its sales of arms to countries, including Saudi Arabia, that donated to the Clinton Foundation at a greater rate as opposed to countries who did not.
A direct report from the investigation stated:
The 143 percent increase in U.S. arms sales to Clinton Foundation donors compares to an 80 percent increase in such sales to all countries over the same time period.
The nickname Crooked Hillary seems to be making more sense now doesn't it?
If that doesn't make you cringe, how about Hillary's other lies:
Hillary said that not one of the 17 GOP candidates discussed how they'd address the rising cost of college when this was one of Marco Rubio's most popular voting points.
She said that Obama created his healthcare plan only for children but the plan is also for adults.
She said the 2005 energy bill was a big step backwards on the path to clean renewable energy when it was actually beneficial the the renewable fuel industry.
Hillary said that a person was three times more likely to be able to get a mortgage if they were a white applicant than if they were black or Hispanic, even if they had the same credentials. This was never backed by factual evidence and was most likely just another one of her ploys to get minority votes.
This November, most people won't vote for Donald Trump because of how passionate he is about Making America Great Again. Because if we're being honest, America has never been great. At least not for most of us.
They will vote for him because he's not Hillary Clinton.
And most people won't be voting for Hillary Clinton because she's so passionate about moving America forward.
They will vote for her because she's not Donald Trump.
