Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself

The true enemy is fear.

There are many different emotions in the human world. We have a lot of human emotions, fear, anger, sadness, happiness. Although, one of the most interesting emotions is fear. Because fear can cause those other emotions to explode out like anger and sadness. It is a weapon. Fear can cause anxiety, pain, apprehension. Why do we have fear? What is it's main purpose? The true enemy I have come to realize is fear, it is one of the roots of our problems. It will always be around and it can never be totally eradicated.

Fear can both help us or hurt us at times. It is normal to fear and to be fearful, although we can not let it control us as human beings. It can feel very unpleasant and it can be the worst feeling in the world of letting it give you anxiety and not wanting you to do anything for the rest of the day. There are plenty of fears out there, but in my opinion we must overcome our own fears and face them, no matter what it is for the most part. Fear keeps us from doing extraordinary things and keeping us from reaching our full potential. It can block our development as a person and limit our freedom. It can cause us to give up on our dreams and goals. It can keep us from taking various opportunities that come our way. Fear tries to tie us down and shackle our feet to the ground. Fear tries to swallow us up and destroy. It can be good because it can signal to us that when we are in trouble and give a signal to leave or not go through with it. But for the most part it is detrimental. Many successful people have no fear and did not let it control them or keep them from doing what they wanted to do in their lives. That is why they are successful. They refused to let it tell them what to do and did what they wanted to do. They blocked out fear. A reason we can fear in the first place is to have some struggle and to overcome it. There is a saying that if we don't fear our main goal it is not worth it from the start.

One of my fears personally is the fear of heights. This fear of heights limits my freedom and holds me back. Over time I have come to realize I must face that fear and overcome it. It is not good to hold that fear inside and to let it control me. I have also been afraid of rejection, but now after a while of all sorts of rejection I have come to embrace it. If I am rejected I have come to understand to just move on and continue. To find something else and find another better opportunity or chance. I fear a lot of things right now besides my fear of heights now as an adult. I fear change. I fear of not being able to get a job after college and going for nothing. I fear of getting hurt or dying at any moment in my life. I fear of not finding true love, of being alone for the rest of my life. For example, in terrorism, terrorists like to strike fear in others and that is one of their primary motives. Fear brought us terrorism in some way or another. Other things I fear are of losing any of my family members or any of my friends. I fear of not being able to support my own family. There is a lot of fear in the world and it contains the power to destroy. Fear over time can cause us to feel lonely and sad. Overcoming your own fears will help you feel much better and it will make you stronger. We must embrace our own fears and destroy them. Fear, you will not defeat me.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
