If you had to ask me what my absolute favorite thing about going to school at Lindenwood University would be, second to the campus itself, would be living roughly ten minutes from home. As many kids dream of getting out of this little town, I couldn't be more grateful to live so close. Here are just a few of the many reasons staying close to home isn't so bad.
1. Free Laundry
While all you kids are out their digging through your couches for loose change and begging your roomie for some quarters, I'm over here doing it free of charge. Sometimes my mom even folds. Jealous?
2. Home cooked meals
Some kids go weeks or even months without coming home and I just cannot imagine that. I get to come home once and sometimes twice a week to get some of my mamas cooking, and it is one of the biggest blessings.
3. The weekends
Well you see, Lindenwood (unless you're 21) isn't exactly "lit", or whatever kids say these days, on the weekends. For me it seems like unless I am out of town for DECA or an event for Delta Zeta, I just work.. A lot.. Of course, it depends on the friend group you have or maybe the organization you're a part of has a big event, there isn't much to do. Luckily for me, I get to go to our families weekend outings, and stay close to all my friends that have made the awesome decision to stay at home too.
4. Convenience
Lock your keys in your car? No worries, there's a spare at home. Family emergency? You're able to drop what you're doing and get home quickly.
5. Most important, Louie and my family
Now I understand that not everyone has a Louie or a family like mine, but maybe you have a mediocre pet and family you love, and don't get to see often. I feel sorry for you, I really do, because seeing my Louie each and every week and being able to still spend time with my family while going through college and beginning to be an adult, rocks.
