A Letter To My Best Friend

I forget to tell you sometimes

A Letter To My Best Friend

So you have been there for me through just about everything. We have been best friends for so long that we both don’t even remember the first time we met and the moment that we actually became best friends. I remember you inviting me to your birthday parties and we would hang out with all of your friends but later have our own birthday celebration for just you and me. That tradition still continues today and I love that. We only get the most heartfelt gifts for each other and know that the other will love them because we tell each other everything. We might not text all the time but when we end up calling each other the conversation only ends because one of us has to go because we have been on the phone for an hour. We have been friends out of state longer than we have in state and but we make it work.

You are the first person, I tell when there is a boy in my life when sometimes amazing happens, or when I have had the worst day of my life. I know I can count on you to be there for me no matter what. We may have our little fights. We might even have a big fight and not speak for a few days but I know that we will always work it out because we know each other better than anyone else. I wish I could see you more and we were there for each other’s proms. I know that when I do get to see you we act like we are five again and nothing has changed between us even when so many things about each of us have. You are so important to me and sometimes I forget to tell you that. I hope that was we continue to grow into the people we want and are supposed to be that we never grow out of our friendship.

Sleepovers and Disney marathons will never stop being tradition and recommended books will never go unread. You’ve met all the friends I’ve made over the years and I have yours and at times we get jealous but then we remember that no one has the history we have. No one can replace us in the other’s life. We have both taught each other so many things and have traveled to see different places together. I don’t know how we have so many private jokes. The fact that we remember all of them is rather impressive. You have helped me through so much and I just want to thank you for that. You know my family so well because you are part of it. You even have your own room at my house. Basically, all I have left to say is I love you best friend.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
