A Note On Never Giving Up

Know that I'm here because I never gave up.

A Note On Never Giving Up

Many of you that know me now will realize that the picture above is one from almost two years ago. This just goes to show you that my crazy personality hasn't changed; however, the success rate of my crazy personality has changed. When I was in high school, I was always trying to be the best student and to be the most involved, but I was always told no. I could never even make it past the initial phase of getting permission to be involved with something. So I did what I could without making a scene (well, there were a few scenes) and waited for my moment. Now I am at my moment, and people ask me all of the time, "How do you do everything that you do?" Here is the simple answer: I never gave up, and I never will.

Ever since I have arrived at college, I have had many opportunities to be a leader on our campus. I am so grateful to be at a college where I am given so many opportunities, so I have never said no to any of those opportunities. Sometimes, it makes me stress out and want to cry. However, I know what I did to get to this point in my life, and I want to cherish every single moment while it lasts. After all, we never know how many days we have left to live. That's precisely why I find myself always saying yes when I have the chance to. I never gave up in high school when I was not receiving the opportunities to be a leader, and I will definitely not give up when I have them because I know now what it is like to fight for something until you get it.

This could be answered easily with a short "I don't know" every time someone asks me, "How do you do everything that you do?" But I would rather give that someone the complicated answer and show them that it really does pay off to never give up on something that you want. If you haven't achieved that little or big something that you want, never give up. You're going to reach it one day, and then you will be able to look back at your past, smile and maybe even tell others to never give up on their dreams.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
