Why you should fight for your happiness

It is OK to not be OK...

It is OK to to not be happy with a situation someone else put you in or even a situation you put yourself in. It is OK to want more or want less or want something you did not ever see yourself wanting. Change is something we as humans go through everyday and along with that change our wants, desires, opinions, views and ideas evolve. So it is OK to not be OK and to make that known.

For those of us who may not be so honest with ourselves when it comes to how we are feeling with where we are in life (and believe me, I understand) do not let yourself cause your own destruction. You cannot go through life shoving your concerns to the back of your mind and pile so much onto your plate that you let your worries go "for the moment". Do not let yourself get to the point where your sitting in your car one day about to head to your next obligation and you just break down. You wonder where the time went and how things got to where they are and if this is how the rest of your life is going to go. Do not let yourself picture your life in twenty years and see this unhappy and stressed out person. YOU DESERVE MORE. You deserve your OWN attention, give it to yourself.

It is OK to change your mind, embrace those changes and make them even if it seems like an inconvenience to the people around you. Do not look at it as a step backward, you are not "taking one step forward and two steps back" you are sprinting a mile ahead of the rest. You are choosing your own happiness above anything else and that is what matters.

So it is ok to not be OK. Fight for what you want and make it happen even if that means fighting with yourself and pushing yourself. Live your life in happiness not regret and wonder. Make it known that you will not choose yourself second and that you are willing to do whatever it takes to give yourself the life you deserve and want. Change is OK, it is apart of life so embrace it! Do not debate on how your choices are going to play out and effect the people around you. Sometimes the changes you make are going to result in leaving people you thought were going to be in your life forever behind and although it seems like it may not be worth it to take the step, it is. The people who are meant to be in your life will be there and they will want you to pursue your happiness. Do not be scared and do not second guess, be excited because you have or are just about to make the first step into the rest of your very happy life.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
