As a kid who grew up watching the New York Knicks and was fascinated with the history of the New York Knicks it troubles me seeing what this team has accomplished under your regime.
I remember the days not so long ago when Carmelo Anthony was someone talked about as an MVP candidate. I remember the days where J.R. Smith was the sixth man of the year. I look back at that great time all Knicks fans know as Linsanity when Jeremy Lin put that team on his back and gave hope to a fan base that had been longing for something to believe in for so long. I even remember a time where we had a coach who we had some trust in and so did the players named Mike Woodson.
Instead, we had gone from Mike Woodson, an experienced head coach who had been in the playoffs multiple times to the unproven, just recently retired, NBA point guard, Derek Fisher. We went from someone who our players believed in one hundred percent to now a coach who hits on players girls and looks like he does not have a clue on the sidelines.
Needless to say, it has been proven he was a much better player than a coach. Well, you fire him which had New York Knicks fans joyful and saying maybe this season is not that far gone yet. Well, the saying is true, the grass is always greener. Derek Fisher was replaced with the sidekick you gave him who let's just say it, is a proven loser as a coach in the NBA. Kristaps Porzingis who honestly probably saved you from being fired mid-season due to the amazing play nobody expected from him in his rookie season has looked as if he has hit a wall under the leadership of Kurt Rambis.
At least, under Derek Fisher Porzingis was throwing up double-doubles seemingly every other game. Kurt Rambis has now made it to where Arron Afflalo has no desire to be there when the season is over and will probably opt out because for some reason Rambis is seeing fit to start the "Trash Brothers", Jose Calderon and Sasha Vujacic, game in and game out.
Rambis has young talent on the bench like Jerian Gran Langston Galloway, Cleanthony Early, at one point Jimmer Fredette, who all we can take a good look at here to finish the season instead of running Carmelo into the ground with our fingers crossed nothing unexpected happens.
The thing that really gets to me though is the Triangle or die attitude that you seem to have. I do not see why the Knicks have to run it. We have struck out on free agents because of it and there have been free agents who have said they would not go to New York because of it. I have watched multiple games this year where we run the triangle until we are down twenty then we throw the triangle out the window and let Melo and Kristaps do their thing and bring us back only to see Fisher or Rambis draw up some stupid play for Langston Galloway to shoot a game winner.
I think my question as well as every other Knicks fan, is simply this. Do you see this mess? Do you see what we see? Any basketball fan can admit you made the right decision when it came to drafting Kristaps, but what about all the other decisions that really do not make sense at all? I have seen nothing but problems when I look at the Knicks since that year the Knicks were the two seed in the East. The New York Knicks faithful just want to know why?
