Not Looking Forward to This Year's Presidential Election
Us News

When I was in high school, I learned a lot about politics in my AP Government class taught by Ms. O'Connor at Lake Taylor High School. I never really cared about politics until after I had her as a teacher. We learned that millennials are the least likely to vote and because of her more and more of have chosen to vote but this year's election is ridiculous. The options we are left with are horrible. I mean Hillary Clinton is not that bad but Trump? Oh. My. Gosh. I've never in my life seen someone who is so full of their-self. He has made so many different racist remarks regarding women, African Americans and people with disability. He was even seen in public, publicly mocking a disabled person. Also during these past two presidential debates as the people were asking questions all Trump and Clinton did not answer any questions. All they did was blame each other for mistakes. But also they never answered the important questions that we wanted to know. They just kept avoiding the questions and answering with gibberish. Why did Trump never pay taxes? We all pay taxes. Even Clinton pays taxes. What makes Trump so special that he does not have to pay taxes? Then during the second debate, Trump was basically calling America stupid because apparently we don't know how to deal with the wars our troops are fighting everyday, risking their lives to keep us all alive and that just is not right. Not to mention that grotesque comment Trump made a while ago about how he can do anything he wants to women because he is a star. That is really messed up. Just because you're a man doesn't give you the right to just think that you can do anything that you want to women. That's what is wrong with our generation and culture today. They think that they can get away with anything and it's people like Trump who are setting this bad example. People need to see and realize that this is promoting rape culture.

Then also Clinton. Our senator. She kept avoiding that question about her emails. Why was she keeping two email accounts? She could have been leaking private governmental information. We don't know what could have been in those emails. All I am saying that we wish had better presidential candidates to vote for this year to vote for.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
