5 Things Not To Look Forward To This Summer

Summertime is really around the corner!!! And it is time for cookouts, happy times and hanging with friends!!! There is no time like the present, and these are the "signs of the times," in my Harry Styles voice. But they are also things that I am not looking forward to this summer, that surely be present.

1. The weather

The weather is setting up to be brutal. I walked outside today for only 5 minutes and heat and humidity just hit my face. You have to squint your eyes like an elderly person as you make your way to your car, or gathering. The sun is unforgiven and we have to bare it. But I would not want it any other way. I would rather it be 105 degrees with the blazing sun, sweating bullets, than to be 28 degrees and be shivering to death.

2. The sweat

The sweat will be a constant this summer and every summer as you all live your lives. People will come outside for 10 minutes and come back drenched in their pool of bodily fluids. Their shirt will stick to them harder than politicians being on board for Trump!! But at least eventually we can let go of this stickiness. If we can all eat a healthier diet, then we can possibly suppress how often our body reacts to humid areas!!! But even eating gluten-free may not be able to stop the hotness!!!

3. The insects

When the seasons change, so does the animals and insects. As the weather gets hotter, the flies and wasps will come out to play. Whether they are nets trying to ruin your cookout or a bumblebee trying to enter your house, there will be some type of creature waiting just to ruin your vibe. Bug spray will be a constant need to keep those pests away temporarily, but they can be a mockery.

4. The Dad Bod

I am sorry, but Dad Bods were never in. Hate to break it to you guys, but dad bods are not the rage. Whomever made dad bods ok, you are ruining the American public, and should be ashamed of yourself. No one will want to see a beer belly or a shirt that will not fit over your stomach, when we are out in public. If you guys have not shaved, it is going to be a nasty site to see. And it really is a changing of the guard for women, if they think six pack abs are not just a thing of beauty. I think they would prefer a six pack miller lite than a six-pack boy. So according to them, it is not worth me going to gym, because I am not going to attract them that way. *shrugs shoulders*

5. The boredom

If you really do not have a job that you can invest in around the clock, not many friends, or just plainly do not have anything going on, then you are going to be bored with your life. Summers are long when your time is idle, and you can become bored. There is no football or basketball. Baseball is there, but it does not exude excitement as the other sports would. But I would hope your summer is steamy like a sauna, or a grill. And I hope it is magical like a Midsummer Night's Dream!!!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
