'Tis the season for everyone and their mother to dust off their favorite Christmas classic to help them get into the holiday spirit.

However, while some are crying as Clarence gets his wings, laughing as Kevin McCallister makes two men's burglary attempt a living hell, or singing along with Mr. Heat Miser, there are some of us that will be sticking to a less traditional tradition-watching nontraditional Christmas movies. These are the films that have become beloved Christmas traditions despite not actually being Christmas movies. Whether the story took place during the holiday season, or there was simply one epic Christmas scene, these movies have won the right to sit among A Christmas Story and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. So I present to you (in no real order), Santa's list of some of the greatest non-Christmas Christmas movies of all time.

Disclaimer: there are many great non-traditional Christmas films out there, however I am just listing a few of the most popular ones.

1. Batman Returns

No, not the Christopher Nolan Batman, this is pure Tim Burton, pasty skin and all. Set around the holidays, this film is filled with everything Christmas-y, from penguins, to mistletoe, to orphans finding love and acceptance.

2. Better Off Dead

A dark comedy with an obsession with two dollars and ski slopes, this 80s film is considered a Christmas classic by many.

3. Edward Scissorhands

Another Burton film, this beautiful movie will never let you see snow the same way again.

4. Die Hard

This film is my personal all-time favorite Christmas tradition. Epic office Christmas party? Alan Rickman playing the villain? Bruce Willis with a full head of hair? Seriously, what's not to love?

5. Die Hard 2

Like it's predecessor, the sequel of one of the best Christmas movies ever is set around Christmastime. Christmas Eve, to be exact. Yippee ki yay everyone.

6. The Nightmare Before Christmas

Some argue it's a Halloween movie, some argue it's a Christmas movie. It's both which is what makes it so great. From Santa, to making toys, to unleashing one's inner Christmas joy, you can't celebrate the holidays without this great film. I mean c'mon, it's even got Christmas in the name.

7. 12 Monkeys

Before the SyFy reboot, there was this film. Okay, so this one I've actually never seen, but many consider this to be one of the best non-traditional Christmas movies ever. Because who doesn't want to spread a deadly virus alongside some Christmas cheer?

8. Love, Actually

This film should actually count as a traditional Christmas film considering Netflix only brings it back around Christmastime. Just saying. Anyway, it's Christmas time, there's an airport, everyone's British, oh, and Hugh Grant dances. It's great, go watch it.

9. Bad Santa

Again, really don't understand why this doesn't count as a traditional holiday film when Netflix and ABC only ever bring it back around this time of the year.

10. Gremlins

Hands down the greatest non-traditional Christmas film of all time. There is no contest when it comes to these deadly Furby-like creatures. Also get ready for the saddest story of Santa coming down a chimney, like ever.

So go ahead, grab some hot chocolate, sit back, and enjoy a break from Frosty and Rudolph with these great films.

Have a non-traditional holiday favorite not on the list? Comment below with the film (because let's face it, I need to update my watchlist)

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
