Does anyone know where it became a thing for girls to have to shave their legs? Who in the world sat down and said, "Yeah, this seems like a solid idea?" I really want to know where in the world it became a thing for girls to be looked down upon if they have not shaved. It is no different from a guy not shaving. So where did it all come from? Well, like it or not, girls are going to start taking No Shave November as serious as guys get to. We women have rights to be able to let our hair on our legs grow wild. Hey, maybe guys should even find it attractive. If facial hair can be attractive, why can't leg hair? So here is to us girls claiming our rights to grow out our leg hair and be as free as we can. Here are seven reasons girls should be allowed to take hold of this unofficial holiday as well.
1. We do not have the time to constantly keep up with these things.
We have lives too, and I can promise you that life does not include taking the time to shave our legs weekly.
2. We promise you that winter is starting and we will wear long pants most of the time.
Leggings, jeans, sweatpants, yoga pants, you name it. We are ready and willing to cover up our hairy legs.
3. There is no need to look that closely at our legs.
Yes it can be noticeable, but why focus so hard on the "negatives" in life?
4. We have a really hard time accepting the stares and faces of horror when our legs accidentally brush up against you.
If a boy accidentally touched you with his facial hair, you would be like hey dude it's okay. So, it's unfair for you to not extend us the same kindness.
5. Guys get praised for their lack of shaving.
Why shouldn't we get to hear things like, "Oh, that looks really good," and "Did you do something different?" Just kidding. But, seriously -- equality.
6. Yes, we know it is not the most attractive thing, but it is definitely not the worst.
You cannot sit there and say that this is the worst thing you have ever heard or seen. Because trust me, it is not.
7. We are people too, and you need to not make a big deal out of this.
We do our very best to be perfect for everyone. So give us this one chance.
Give us one month, just one month to have complete freedom. Let us go wild (moderately) and live our lives as freely as the guys get to. Girls should be allowed to participate in this one time, and we promise we will try our best to make the world a better place by shaving our legs as much as we can. But give us this. Happy November, and good luck with not shaving -- boys and girls.
