It has been more than 10 years that gun violence has been a major issue across the U.S, mainly because of the lack of background check.
There are two separate problems with the weaponry being distributed to the public, the first being the actual people that get it. There are cases like Charles Andrew Williams who was only 15 when he shot two of his classmates and injured thirteen other kids in California, or Charles Carl Roberts IV who goes into a small schoolhouse and kills five girls in 2006, or Zimmerman killing Trevon Martin, and the list goes on. Not only are there constant notices of these males and females going on a killing spree, but the amount of people being killed daily is increasing rapidly. The second is the misconception that anyone with a license or some kind of authority can get their hands on deadly materials. The issue at hand is that there isn't enough psychological screening on those who want to purchase a fire arm. For example, many of the people who shot someone or more than one person has some kind of problem that they feel they need to address. James Egan Holmes had access to two tear gas grenades, smith and Wesson, M and P 15 Rifle, Remington 870, express tactical shotgun, and a glock 22, who used it all to kill 12 in the movie theatre and injured 70, only because he wanted to be like Batman. People like James that have some kind of issue are roaming around getting high-tech weapons that are so easy to obtain because of the lack of proper background check.
The second problem involves the countless stores that are selling more and more arms by the day. Recently, we see an immense amount of the younger generation having ak-47s and hand guns on them. A lot of students sometimes feel scared going to school because certain kids find ways to sneak weapons into the building. A great deal of attention has been placed on the deaths of all the victims and to the violence itself, but the topic of what to do to control the procession of fire arms isn't being talked about enough.
Thankfully, there are some solutions that can help the situation. First, it would be a lot better if there were more background checks on people who purchased the firearms. It is true, as the 2nd amendment states, that we all have a right to bare arms, but it is coming to a point that many are getting them for more violence than protection. Second, there should be a limit to how many stores actually sell guns. Now a days it's so easy to get a hold on guns that a child could possible buy one or a convicted criminal for that matter. Also, it would be very important to limit the actual guns that are produced. If the public really wants to buy guns for their safety, then there is no need to buy military types guns. The gun violence needs to stop or there will be no end to innocent deaths.
