Sh*t happens. You just have to roll with the punches. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. The brightest day comes after the darkest night.
There are so many cliché things that people say when something bad happens in life. There is always an attempt to say something to make everything ok or make someone feel better in the middle of a tough situation. These clichés always seem to pop up when you need it least.
Think about it. When was the last time that someone said one of those clichés to you and you thought, “wow I just feel so much better now”. Never? What a surprise. So why do we still say them?
People have a constant need to try to fix life. Try to make everything neat and clean and pretty and fit perfectly into a pretty little box, but this doesn’t always work out.
Once cliché that seems to be true is that sometimes sh*t hits the fan.
Once major life event that goes wrong can send even the level headed person into what feels like a never-ending tailspin. It can cause everything after it to feel slightly off and like something else is going to go wrong because something always does.
If your style is to instantly fix everything and not be concerned about anything then best of luck to you, but sometimes you just have to let things fall apart.
Uncertainty when something goes wrong is what usually hurts people the most. The uncertainty of what to do next, the uncertainty of why it happened, the uncertainty you make up. It all happens at the same time and it all keep you guessing at what next.
I think this is actually great though. You have a chance to make something new, do something new, or just grow in your life. You don’t need those cliché saying, you don’t need the other people there to constantly console you (although an occasional “you’re doing well” is always appreciated), you just need to let it happen.
If you really think that you can keep everything clean and neat and in a pretty little box then you’re probably going to have more sh*t hitting the fan moments than anyone else that you know.
If you try to make all these perfect little plans with things that you can’t control then you may need to be ready to face disappointment, but that ‘s when you figure out what your next step is.
There has been a lot of things that have hit the fan this year for me, and I can honestly tell you that I have now learned have to roll with the punches, make lemonade and wait for the brightest day. And I didn’t need anyone else to remind me of that to realize that things would be ok again at some point.
