As my birthday was nearing over the summer, I started to think about all of the little life lessons I learned over 19 years. I instantly thought of a few, but decided to leave the document open, and add to it as I remembered a lesson or some new lessons were learned. I am sure the list could go on, but you only get to 19 of them this year.

1. Everything happens for a reason; whether or not you understand that reason.

This is a very debatable claim, but personally, it helps me to believe in this. It gives me some reason as to why certain unexpected things occur.

2. If people can't make time for you, they don't deserve to be in your life.

Yes, people can be busy, but they eventually have some free time. It's just a matter if they spend it with you or not.

3. You cannot stress over the little things, like feeling left out. It won’t matter in a few days.

There are plenty of small things to worry about along the way, but most things won't matter in the long run!

4. People will come and go, you just need to accept that.

This is one of the most important one I have realized. Not everyone is meant to be in your life forever. And thats okay! Just enjoy appreciate the time you have with the ones close to you.

5. You cannot rely on others to make you happy.

I used to rely on my friends, family and significant other to make me happy when I was feeling down. I now know that I should be the person to lift myself back up, not them. They can help me along the way, but they might not always be there.

6. Be grateful and appreciate the support from others.

People care about you and have your best interest in mind, be thankful for them.

7. Everything is all relative. Something that may seem small to you, might be huge to someone else.

Be respectful when it comes to how people react and comprehend different things.

8. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

There is nothing wrong with asking for help! It will help you get further in life.

9. Live life with no regrets.

Life is short! Do what you want and branch out!

10. Be yourself.

Don't be afraid to enjoy things that aren't considered cool or trendy.

11. Sleep is very important.

At any stage of your life, you need lots of sleep! You need to make sure you get enough to be healthy.

12. It’s okay to have different views than other people, just as long as you’re respectful about it.

Especially with so much talk of politics lately. You should speak out and educate people on your views, but don't be rude or offensive. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

13. Don’t settle, reach for the stars and don’t stop till you get what you deserve.

You deserve only the best. I can't stress this enough.

14. Pets will love you no matter what, even on your worst days.

The point is; get a pet.

15. Make time to do what makes you happy.

It is so important to make time for yourself and do things you love!

16. Everyone makes mistakes, just make sure you learn something from it.

No one is perfect, so it's okay to make mistakes or fail sometimes. As long as you get back up and make a lesson of it.

17. Find something that allows you escape from reality every once in a while. Like music, sports or a good book.

Life can get busy, so it's important to find a simple way to escape.

18. Travel whenever you get the chance.

Traveling can teach you so much about you and the world in general!

19. Family is everything.

Your family will always love you and be there for you. They do so much for you. Don't be afraid to lean on them every once in a while. Don't take them for granted.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
