19 Life Lessons That Need To Be Shared To 19 Year Olds

Trust me. It's an awkward age.

Although I have only been alive for 19 years, I have learned a lot in my 19 years of being on Earth. Not everything in life comes easy, and that is okay. Nineteen is a weird age because it is the in-between age of being a teenager and being an adult. There are a couple things I've learned along the way and I only hope other nineteen year olds can learn from them.

1. Not everyone is going to like you.

You can't please everyone, as hard as you may try. There will just be some people that just won't like you. It's better to learn that now than learn it later. Surround yourself with the people that will actually be there for you.

2. Save your money.

Don't spend all your money on food like me. I would be rich if I saved my money! It is such a good idea to save your money and I advise everyone to save their money.

3. People will come and go in your life.

This is pretty self explanatory but its so true, the people that are meant to be in your life will stay.

4. Things happen for a reason.

I am a firm believer in this, I really don't have anything else to say about this one.

5. Always tell the truth.

As much as it may hurt to tell the truth, it is always the right thing to do. Lying gets you know where.

6. Everything will fall into place.

Things may be difficult at times, but eventually everything will work out.

7. Say "I can" instead of "I can't".

Don't discourage yourself, you can do anything you put your mind to.

8. Don't hold a grudge.

Forgive and forget.

9. Always be nice to other people. . .

and I bet they will be nice to you in return. We can only hope.

10. Music and naps are a must.

If you are in a bad mood, listen to music. If you are tired but have a lot to do, just take a nap. Trust me, it will be worth it

11. Ask questions. . .

...And ask for help. I used to never ask questions or ask for help. I'm not sure why, I guess I was just nervous. Trust me, if you don't understand something you never will understand it unless you ask for help.

12. Worry about yourself, not others

Mind your own business

13. Step out of your comfort zone.

College is the perfect time and place to do this.

14. You are beautiful.

Don't listen to what other people have to say, they are just jealous.

15. Everyone makes mistakes.

...Everyone has those days. Yes, I did just quote Hannah Montana. It's true though, no one is perfect.

16. Admit when you are wrong.

This is the first step to solving problems. If you know you are in the wrong just admit to it and move on.

17. Treat yourself.

Sometimes you deserve to buy yourself something you really want, whether it's a cute top or an expensive item of makeup.

18. Enjoy the little things.

Life is so fast pace that people don't take time to appreciate the little things in life. Slow down every once in a while to just enjoy life.

19. Don't forget to have fun.

You are still young so don't forget to live in the moment.

Whether you knew all these things or not, they are all good life lessons to know. What are the life lessons you have learned?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
