In a perfect world, the “nice guy" would always finish in first place. But, we do not live in a perfect world, therefore, that rarely happens and we all wonder why. Well, here are a few reasons to why we rarely settle for the guy that treats us right.
1. We Don’t Deserve Him
Many of us believe that we are not good enough to be with him. We think that he’d be settling for less than what he deserves, and we know that it would not be fair. We don’t give him a chance because we fear finding out what we missed out on when we were wasting time with all of the other ones.
2. “If he’s mean, he likes you”
The overused quote by our elders, “If he’s mean, it means he likes you,” all throughout elementary school stuck with us and made us believe it was true all through life. We were always told that if he picked on you, he liked you, when in reality if a boy is nice to you and calls you pretty at that age, he’s the one that actually likes you. For some odd reason, we enjoyed when the little boy sitting in the desk next to us told us he didn’t like our shoes because it made us upset on the outside, but giggly on the inside. We laugh because he ACTUALLY noticed something that we were wearing.
3. We think they are boring
I cannot fully tell you why we think the “nice” guy is boring, however, I can attempt. We want them to be rebellious and adventurous. We always want to be on our toes, and it does not make any sense. Overall, a lot of us liked to be constantly entertained.
In the end, we do not fully understand why we do not choose the good guy, but it takes a lot of heartbreaks and bumps in the road for us to realize our worth. It takes time to settle down and be okay with the nice, adventurous, and fun guy, but I know we all will one day.
