News Flash: T-Swift Sucks

Someone had to say it, this pop star is a giant scam

News Flash: T-Swift Sucks

Alright "Swifties", don't get all upset over this article. First off, I would like to start by saying I am not going to be stooping so low as to use T-Swift's music and looks as examples for this statement. Clearly, my opinion on those two things does not reflect the greater whole (refer to all of her awards and how many hunks she has dated in the past few years). In fact, I only have one reason why Taylor Swift sucks and that is because she is selfish.

Now now, this isn't an issue that has arisen from just one situation. Her selfishness has been around for years. Here are a few instances where it really, truly, showed.

Gift Giving Scan

I am sure your social media was flooded with articles and links to this YouTube video, where Taylor Swift is just trying to connect to her fans by doing something special for them. She delivered gifts to them for Christmas! How nice of T-Swift! This would have been just dandy if she didn't go and make a YouTube video about it. For any of you that know how advertising and publicity works, this is basically a scam to get more attention and to prove herself.

The video starts off with a black screen and white text typing out lines like, "2014 was the year of many wonderful things for Taylor and her fans", a subtle way to brag about her accomplishments. Naturally, since it was such a "wonderful" year, Taylor felt like she could now refer to the national holiday that is called Christmas, as "Swiftmas". Sorry, Taylor, it's still Christmas to me. (P.S.: if anyone watches "Scream Queens," refer to the Halloween episode in which they totally mock this whole situation in Halloween form instead of Christmas)

Spotify Situation

Alright, let's get this straight. Taylor's estimated net worth is $200 million. However, Taylor is greedy so naturally, in late 2014, she decided to remove all of her albums off of the streaming service Spotify. She also expressed her issues about piracy. Sure, every musician worries about piracy. Hello, it's stealing. Let me put this in perspective of what Taylor turned down. On Spotify, artists receive less than a penny for every song play. But, for an artist like Taylor Swift, an album like 1989 could rake in $425,000 per month. PER MONTH. But, nope Taylor couldn't get off her high horse for that. It's 2015, buying physical copies of albums will soon be obsolete. 40 million people use Spotify, so thanks for caring about those fans, Taylor.

Award Show Squad

The VMAs are one of the most fun award shows out there. Amazing fashion and amazing people fill the red carpet. Like always, Taylor Swift was in attendance and up for many awards. Taylor, however, doesn't like to do anything half-assed so instead of showing up with one or two guests on her arms, she decided to bring the whole damn family. I don't mean her actual family, I mean her so-called "squad." Most of these starlets are her close friends or strangely all appeared in the "Bad Blood" music video. Coincidence? I think not. Names like Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne, and Karlie Kloss were just a few. If the whole situation couldn't get worse, as she was winning awards they come up on stage with her. Maybe it was Taylor's subtle way of letting them see what it looks like from the VMA stage because they'll never make it up there themselves.

I probably crushed a couple of the "Swiftie" hearts out there but someone had to break it to them. Taylor is an award winning musician, that unfortunately only thinks of herself. Don't let her actions that are supposedly for her fans trick you, they're stunts. Sorry, not sorry.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
