New Years Resolutions For All

Maybe I will do half, hopefully...

Healthy Fit Guide

It is the beginning of another year, the time when we add more resolutions to our list. Remember the ones we promise we will do by December? I am just as guilty of making a list and losing it or giving up. So this year, I want to do better. I want to complete at least half of my resolutions, which is a goal in itself. Right? Right. Let's get started with a very lengthy New Years Resolution list that is for everyone.

1. Read my Bible everyday.

Yes, I am lacking but I want to improve. I want to walk better with the Lord. I don't know if I will follow a study plan, or just read something meaningful in that moment to me. Whatever I choose, it will come with many blessings and trust in the One who gave me life.

2. Complete the Harry Potter Series (Finally!).

I am that 1 percent of people who haven't finished reading the Harry Potter books. I started this one early by starting on December 21st. Head starts are good, too.

3. Always say "I love you."

This is a common thing I see on social media--how we don't say those three little words enough. I want to say them more because they are definitely important.

4. Complain less.

I am terrible at not complaining. I complain about EVERYTHING. No I am not being dramatic, but realistic. It is crazy how much I complain in just a matter of 24 hours. So, I challenge myself and everyone else to not complain. Do it in stints because sometimes we all just need to rant.

5. Be more thankful.

This goes along with complaining. Sometimes we don't realize how good we have it because we are always being negative about what is going on.

6. Remain positive throughout tough classes.

This is such a big one, especially in my life. I tend to get so bogged down that I forget to be positive.

7. Pray more, and remember God is there.

Pray without stopping. God is always listening. I think He loves to hear from His children. Just talk to Him. Give it all to God.

8. Remember that God has a plan and a reason for everything.

I have so much trouble with this. When life gets you down, just remember the Lord has a plan even better than our own. Everything has a reason.

9. Stay in love with reading.

I want to keep my spark for reading alive. It expands vocabulary and makes for great talking points. We have all fell in love with a fictional character before, and it is the best part about reading.

10. Have confidence in my Fiction stories.

Confidence is key in anything, especially in sharing your own work with others. I want to be confident in the stories I am sharing with those around me or classmates/professors.

11. Improve my grammar skills.

Yes, I am an English Major, but my grammar isn't all that great. I want to continue to improve and learn more.

12. Meet new people.

This is far fetched, but I can always try. We all have that moment where we want to say hey to someone new, but don't know how. Make the move!

13. Listen more.

Listen and understand more instead of blurting things out.

14. Never stop writing!

People say, "practice makes perfect," but even if you don't reach the perfect level, never stop trying. One day you will reach it. Keep doing what you love, whether it be writing or a sport.

15. Spend more time with family and friends.

Basically, don't hide in your room or house. Come out and enjoy the people around you and all the ones who love and care for you.

16. Step out of my comfort zone (every now and then).

Go and do something you have never done, or go try something that use to scare you.

17. Eat healthy.

Try new foods that are healthy for you. Try foods you have never liked but want to at some point.

18. Drink less sodas per day (man, I love soft drinks).

I LOVE Sundrop and Mountain Dew, but I drink so so many. Even it out with different drinks, or just less of that one drink during the day.

19. Drink more water.

The water reminder. I am definitely lacking in this. At least drink water at one mealtime per day.

20. Exercise (whether it is outside or inside).

I like to play the Wii for exercise or maybe running in place. I use to walk/jog around my house, but it has been a while. I want to get back to that.

I hope you all have a Happy New Year and succeed in your many goals.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."

Jeremiah 29:11

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
