A new year came by and we are all hopeful for it to be the most amazing year. Pope Francis list of New Year’s resolution is the most beautiful goal for every day. He said to focus on ten important points in our lives: Don’t gossip, finish your meals, make time for others, choose the “more humble” purchase, meet the poor “in the flesh,” stop judging others, befriend those who disagree, make commitments, such as marriage, make it a habit to “ask the Lord,” and be happy.
Unfortunately, it is so easy for us to gossip. Gossiping is nothing but jealousy. We comment badly on how others dress or we talk about a friend in a way he/she wouldn’t like. It seems like we can’t keep a simple secret anymore. This is why the world is so closed up and I learned that if I say anything to anyone that person will go and tell it to everyone else. I really hope that this will change and that we can stop gossiping for once. Gossiping can break any relationship. Make it a habit to stop it. If you want to love and be loved then stop talking about others.
Every point is so pure and beautiful. We need to stop judging others. We are so accustomed to judging others even though we are clueless of what they are going through and what they had been through. Who are we to judge? Leave it to God and be the good person that God longs you to be. When I judge a person I am judging God’s creation and this does not make God happy with me. God knows better and we should not offend him in any way. Stop worrying about what other people are doing and focus on your own self to be happier.
Another wonderful resolution is to make commitments. Being committed means you are able to control yourself in the most amazing ways and you are challenging yourself to stay as true as you may be. When you commit yourself to be with one special person, for example, is a very beautiful will. You are being committed just as Jesus was committed to us until he died and rose for us. So this year, make commitments and make the people around you happy to have you in their lives.
Most importantly, God wants us to be happy, it’s that simple. If I work on accomplishing the nine points that Pope Francis suggests then I will arrive at happiness. If I do God’s will and focus on making him proud, then I will be nothing but happy. If you are happy, God is happy. Be rejoiced and enjoy every little breath of life that God gives you. Love yourself because God always loves you. Make good choices and be “more humble” with everything you do. Be nice to everyone and especially to the poor and needy, and seek God with every problem you may encounter. Keep him as close as possible to you and he will bless you throughout your days. Have a joyful year filled with happiness, love, and health.
