A New Year, And, A New Me

What’s life without change, especially at the start of a new year–when things are super fresh, and exciting?

Oh 2017. I am sad to see you go. But you know what? I’m not all that sad. Because now we’re in 2018, and that means it’s a new year, that we can really rejoice and be ourselves in. It’s a time for new classes, new schedules, new changes, and, most importantly (or should I say most newly!!??), new attitudes.

I have decided I’m taking up a new attitude, because it’s with new attitudes that are totally the best that we can finally shine and be ourselves and be new in this new year because we’re totally new like everything else, and we need to be newly original the way God intended us to be when we were made new oh so many years before. So I’m being new. I am making my new years resolution to be that new me I was always meant to be. It’s like the saying goes: a new year, and, a new me.

So what is this new me, you might ask oneself? Well, the new me is all about being myself! The new me is voicing my voice and sharing what needs to be shared because I am unique. And we are all unique and we deserve to share that uniqueness with each other. And so I’m sharing this posting on The Odyssey Online because I believe that I am here to express my opinions! And that is my God-given right. God wants us to express our opinions and love each other and each other’s opinions.

So this year, basically, on the Earth’s two thousand and eighteenth birthday, what I mean to say and let you know, reader, is, the new me isn’t afraid to open up. The new me isn’t afraid to talk about my thoughts and my feelings and everything else inside my brain. The new me is ready to take on the world…

One Odyssey writing at a time!

Cheers to the New Year, everybody! It’s an amazingly awesome time to be alive, and never forget to be thankful that you are alive in this amazingly awesome time at all because there are some people who are not alive and we should always remember that. I am thankful every day for what God has given me and especially for The Odyssey. I love being able to write my writings and I’m glad that you’re able to read my writings, too. I can’t wait to really dive into those topics most important to me, and I’m sure you’re just itching to read about them!

So here it goes, people! Let’s do this new me resolution promise!!!!!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
