When I was a kid, my parents made sure I did a bunch of activities to help get me active, make friends, and find some things that I'm passionate about. I'm sure most people's parents did the same to see their children be successful. But why does this only apply to childhood? A lot of young adults doubt themselves that they can learn a new skill.
A few weeks ago, I was talking with my roommate about living life with no regrets, and she mentioned that one of her biggest regrets was not continuing with learning piano. I asked her what is stopping her from learning piano again. She didn't have an answer. This inspired me to never stop following my dreams.
When I was young I played violin, clarinet, soccer, basketball, and softball, all of which I quit before high school. I gave up soccer for personal reasons and that is one of my biggest regrets. I was pretty good and with more confidence, I could have went on to play in high school and maybe college. Even though it is too late to become a soccer superstar, I can still enjoy soccer as a sport. By joining club teams or just playing with friends, I can still enjoy it for myself.
Even though I quit most activities I did when I was younger, I discovered new dreams that I could follow as a young adult. One of my new dreams is to work in television production. I followed this dream by working at my university's TV station. Another dream I had was to join a sorority. Not only did I join a sorority, but I am a founding member, which is a very proud accomplishment of mine.
It's never too late, and you're never to old to follow your dreams. If you want to play the piano, learn about music and practice playing. If you want to make makeup tutorial YouTube videos, get a camera and some makeup and make videos. It's okay to try to revisit old dreams and it's okay to have new dreams. As long as you are working toward your dreams and living life with no regrets, you will have a fulfilled and happy life.
