How 'Netflix and Chill' Helps Find 'The One'

You've been hooking up with a girl or guy for a while and you're in that stage where you do not know whether to run or stay put. You think that the person is pretty funny, cute and not crazy like that ex of yours. So what do you do? You decide to Netflix and chill because it provides a combination of your two favorite things: kissing and Netflix. And it's because of people like us that Netflix has decided to conduct research on the very logo to find out what is really going on behind the streaming.

According to the Observer, Netflix contracted the market research company, Ipsos, and surveyed 1,008 American users between the age of 18 and 39. The results may be a bit of a surprise to everyone, but it all proves that if you are in it for the long haul, Netflix and chill may be the way to go.

So, listen up ladies. The survey found that 34 percent of men "fall for someone based on similar tastes in movies and shows," (Similar to if you're into sports, a guy just seems to get 1,000 times more interested in you, don't you think?). If the guy or girl you're seeing is indecisive of making it official, it could be that you two don't have "show compatibility" with 27 percent of people responding that it's very important in finding the one. In other words, if a partner sees that the other person is not interested in the same content of television, they could decide that it's better to go your separate ways.

Now, this is where it gets kinda weird...Apparently 25 percent of users find someone more attractive based on their 'Continue Watching' list. So, the person you're dating could be deciding whether you're hot or not just on what shows you've decided to watch. Can I get a "WTF?" When analyzing this information, it all adds up. Just think about it. What do you talk to people about to break the ice? You talk about television shows you binge on or movies you cannot wait to see. According to the survey, 69 percent of people discuss movies, and 63 percent of people talk about television on a date or when hanging out with someone they have a crush on.

But getting past that first date and forwarding to a few weeks when you're in that weird stage, Netflix can help you make it official with 58 percent of couples finding themselves bonding over the streaming website. But what's the biggest sign that you've found someone special? When they share the password with you. Fifty-one percent of the users have said that they only share that when they see the relationship lasting.

So, if you're currently Netflix and chilling with someone right now, I truly wish you all the luck in your quest for love.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
