All Moms Love Netflix

Sometimes I really need to get stuff done.

I love Netflix; it used to be Netflix and chill, and that's probably how we got to where we are now...with a kid...because you know Netflix and "chill."

I'm kidding. I have more class than that. But it gets a whole new meaning once you have a kid. Because there is no "Netflix and chill" anymore. It's Netflix and children, now let me explain. I simply use Netflix and children to my advantage.

I am that mom. The mom who wears the same clothes every day until it's absolutely time to change into something else. I am that mom who will make mac-and-cheese every day with a hot dog for my kid just so they'll eat something. I'm that mom who lets her kids leave toys everywhere and I could really care less. I am that mom who has a pretty bad potty mouth sometimes. I probably don't shower enough and I go to bed really early. I forget a lot of things and sometimes I lack on getting laundry and the dishes done. I'm that mom who really doesn't care what society thinks about her parenting.

I'm not one of those moms who are like, "My kids don't watch TV. My kids only eat healthy food." Ha! Seriously, what is that? Half the time I'm running to McDonald's to get her a kids meal because it's quick and easy. Just kidding, let's be real, I don't feel like making dinner sometimes. OK maybe every time. And most of the time they just want the toy, but they get a toy and a meal, so it's a win-win. Not so much when the cheap toy breaks though and they have a fit, but you can thank McDonald's for that. It's hard enough handling a toddler all day and then doing all the household chores. (I still do them, but why not have a little help?) That's why I love Netflix. (Coming from a stay at home mom's point of view anyways.)

Netflix can actually be pretty helpful. Sometimes I turn on Netflix kids group, so I can get some stuff done. Because God knows you can't get anything done with your toddler running around. Although I can't stand "Caillou," sometimes he saves me when I need a moment of quiet time (even though we all know "Caillou" teaches kids how to plot their next naughty move).

And if I hear the "Mickey Mouse Club House" theme song one more time, I might flip a brick, but they did save my sanity when I needed to get the dishes done in peace. I mean, I guess I rather listen to a song about hot dogs than watch Caillou again so that's OK, but that's beside the point. Sometimes I turn on Netflix for my kid just to get some peace and quiet...even though their attention span is slim to nothing, sometimes you really just need those three minutes to recoup.

Netflix gives such a variety of kids shows, some are kind of weird I'm not going to lie, but I mean it keeps the kids entertained. I don't know about you, but I have like five loads of laundry piling up, I have dishes sitting from like two days ago and I haven't showered in like four days.

So yes, I love you Netflix and children.

Thank you for saving my sanity sometimes.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
