Nampa Pest Control: Dealing with Pests During the Cold Months

A lot of pests go into the state of dormancy in winter. Because of this, you may think you don’t have to worry about Nampa pest control during this time of the year. However, did you know that winter pests are real? Unfortunately, the cold does not drive away all kinds of pests and insects. In fact, winter can put your house at serious risk of pest infestations. Read to know why.

Pests that Live in the Walls Don’t Feel Threatened

Although a lot of pests hibernate during the cold months, certain types of bugs and rodents search for shelters, including your house. Warm-blooded pests can be hiding in the woodpile next to your house. Also, this structure can house ants, rats, and beetles. So, make sure to move this woodpile away from any structure and just bring it inside your house when you have to burn it.

Moreover, fall is the season for spiders to mate and ants to swarm toward warm places. This means that pests will search for shelters as the cold air sets in. This shelter could be your house.

Even Small Holes Can Welcome Rodents

During winter, rodents are common pests you may encounter. A mouse and rats can easily slip through a small crack or hole. So, when you think about your home, consider any possible entrances like crumbling mortar, openings around your utility pipes, damaged screens, and more. Also, keep in mind that winter can damage your structures even further. When your shingles loosen because of ice dams, gaps can be opened. If you have untrimmed trees, rodents can crawl into your attic and damage your home’s structure.

When trying to deal with a rodent infestation, remember that rats and mice usually hide their presence. They tend to stay in remote locations like attics where they can gnaw on electrical lines and insulation. And if they have to be in a place where people appear, they are likely to spoil food items and spread some diseases.

Getting an Inspection in Winter

In winter, you can encounter different kinds of pests and spiders. But, you do not need to bear this problem. Pest issues may be too big to deal with by yourself, so it is best to ask a local pest control expert for help. Whether you have an existing pest problem or just to ensure you don’t face one in winter, find a trusted pest control service that can give you a timely inspection and treatment.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
