I drive. A LOT. I have always loved driving ever since I got my license in high school. As the years have passed, I have increased the distances of my mini road trips (strongly based on if I think my '99 Jeep can even make it that far), whether it be down south to the beach or to a big city like Houston. Lately, I have been driving up and down Highway I-35 from San Marcos to San Antonio, and back to San Marcos. My parents, my boyfriend, and a lot of my friends live in San Antonio, so it's nice to be only about an hour away. To fill that hour-long drive, here are some of my favorite songs, in no particular order, that I listen to almost every time I get in the car...
1. "Wildfire" by John Mayer This is the first song on my playlist. This song has been covered a few times, but none of the other versions are as funky and upbeat as this one.
2. "Come Pick Me Up" by Ryan Adams I first heard this song in the movie Elizabethtown and have loved it ever since.
3. "The Stable Song" by Gregory Alan Isakov I stumbled upon Isakov's music through Pandora, and now he's definitely one of my favorite acoustic artists. Most of his songs are a little slow, but sometimes that's what I need
4. "Animal" by Mike Snow Fun and upbeat, why not?
5. "She Moves In Her Own Way" by The Krooks I love the lead singer's voice. This song sounds like something out of a rom-com. It's light and fun and I find myself singing along every time.
6. "Barrier Reef" by Old 97's Pretty much anything by Old 97's is gold.
7. "Home" by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes This one is a personal favorite between my boyfriend and I. We know basically every word.
8. One Day by Asaf Avidan & The Mojos I love the super upbeat sound. I was instantly hooked the first time I heard this song.
9. "Amazing, Because It Is" by The Almost This rendition of Amazing Grace is so powerful. This is usually one of the first songs I listen to if I'm making a drive in the morning as the sun is rising. Chills every time.
10. Any song by Empire of the Sun If you like 80s music, you'll like their stuff.
11. "Drive" by Alan Jackson I think this one's pretty obvious, but it also has a lot of meaning to me.
12. "Keep Your Head Up" by Ben Howard Save the best for last, right? This is my favorite song out of this whole list. Another song I initially heard on Pandora, it quickly took its place on my playlist. Also another song that gives me chills every time.
Happy Driving!
