41 Thoughts I Had While Watching 'Game of Thrones' For The First Time

41 Thoughts I Had While Watching 'Game of Thrones' For The First Time
HBO

The “Game of Thrones” TV show has been über popular since it first aired in 2011. It’s been six years and seven seasons have come out, and I’ve finally decided to give it a shot. I’m weird in a way that I don’t like watching new and popular shows until the hype has kind of died down around it. Though, the hype of “Game of Thrones” has only increased since then, though I have noticed a few Buzzfeed and Cosmo articles on viewers threatening to leave the show due to so many deaths of their favorite characters. I’m not sure what it is that has prompted me to finally check out the show, but I’m definitely looking forward to it.

I gave both “Friends” and “Grey’s Anatomy” a try after many recommendations and many seasons had passed and I fell in love with both, so who knows I might feel the same with “Game of Thrones”.

So I didn’t read the synopsis or summary for this website, I had no idea what to expect going into this. All I had was the sort of suspicious and ominous warning my sister gave me a week ago when I told her I would be doing this. She had said, “Ooh, the first episode, actually the first season's a little bit…awkward.” And that was all she said. She didn’t specify what exactly was going to be awkward or what stuff I should watch out for, so I went into this knowing absolutely nothing about the show, I knew a bit about the characters, like for instance, I knew Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow were two of the characters, but I knew nothing of their stories or backgrounds, but I was definitely curious to know what all the hype and excitement was over this show.

All pics were taken from "Game of Thrones" fan Wikia pages.

1. Well, it’s already starting off kind of ominous and strange.

2. So far, I have nooo idea what’s going on.

3. I’m really expecting something to pop out in this wintry forest scene.

4. Okay well, nothing popped out, but it’s still a pretty creepy screen.

5. Wow, that was crazy.

6. This forest kind of reminds me of the Blood Wood in "Reign", they too had human sacrifices left in a creepy way.

7. I don’t know why but I get the feeling that the cowardly one is going to be the only one that survives all the killings.

8. Wow, they sure don’t mess around.

9. Oh, they’ve got a nice theme song. It’s so visually appealing.

10. Oh wow, I was right. Curiosity killed the cat and the cowardly got to keep his head.

11. Oh, there’s that infamous line, “Winter is coming.“. I thought Jon Snow was the one credited with saying that though.

12. Oh gosh, they’re not going to kill him, are they?

13. But, whyyy? I’m still sooo confused.

14. Should I shield my eyes? Yeah, I think I’m gonna.

15. Hope that kid doesn’t have nightmares over that later.

16. Oh gosh, I hope I don’t have nightmares over all these beheadings later.

17. Oh, that is the cutest thing ever!

18. They better not kill it!

19. Aw yay, no beheadings of animals then.

20. What’s a Stark though?

21. Should I Google it or should I just wait till the show lets me know instead?

22. Oh, that's their last name, duh, okay.

23. Okay, so John is like Bash from "Reign" - I know, I know I shouldn't make comparisons between the two shows because I did that with "How I Met Your Mother" and "Friends", and then I ended up loving "Friends" more in the end.

24. Well, that was a weird image, not quite sure I even want to know what that thing was.

25. Oh, the nakedness begins from the very first episode I see.

26. Oh, it’s Daenerys!

27. Wow, anddd now she’s naked tooo anddd being stroked, okayyy well.

I will not be adding pics of this by the way.

28. Being stroked by her BROTHER, what?

29. Aw, why does she have to get married to some savage killer?

30. And such an ugly one at that.

31. Well, I just hope he at least treats her right.

32. Ooh, another marriage proposal.

33. Aw, look at that young love!

34. Well, I've seen memes of this guy, I wonder when he turns evil or if he was always evil from the beginning.

35. Oh, what a lovely beach wedding with giant snakes and half dead animals for a feast, and of course, girls being raped in the public.

36. She looks like she’s ready to jump and I don’t entirely blame her, I probably would’ve.

37. Wow, that kid’s a really good climber.

38. Wait, isn't that her brother?

39. He better not hurt that boy.

40. Oh, that jerk!

41.That was a great ending though, ending on a cliffhanger and making people want to know more.

So, there was a lot of drama and action in this first episode. It pretty much just dives right into the story which I both liked and disliked. I liked it because it really showed how well this show is portrayed and how intense it can get and I kind of disliked it, because it was very confusing for me for more than half the length of the episode, but I was sure that if I kept watching, I would get all the answers and my confusion would be cleared which for the most part, it was.

So, my verdict is while it is a very visually appealing and interesting show, it's probably not for me and my weak stomach. Maybe one day I will revisit the show and give it another chance, but for now, I think I'll stick to my sitcoms and family shows.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
