My Not So "New Year's Resolution"

It's That Time Again

It’s a brand new year, which means a new time for change, new memories, and letting go of the baggage of 2016. Like myself and so many others, a new year is a time for major or minor changes, whether it’s losing a few pounds, watching the latest movie that hits theaters, or even getting a new haircut for a new semester of college. But, whatever the reason, we all strive to make the new year as exciting as possible. Here, I’ve composed a list of my “New Year’s Resolution.”

1. Try Not To Binge-Watch Season 5 of "Orange is the New Black" in One Day.

If you know me, then you’ll know that I absolutely love “Orange is the New Black” and this is nearly an impossible task. Save the date: June 17th is the premiere of season 5 , and I I’ll try my hardest to not binge watch the entire season in one day (no promises).

2. Make It Through This Semester Without Crying.

I’m that friend that will cry at anything, from seeing a low B on a test to bawling my eyes out when I can’t bring my dog everywhere with me, so making it a day without crying this semester should be interesting…we will see how it goes.

3. Limit Myself To One Pumpkin Spice Latte a Day

I don’t think there is a moment when I’m not craving a pumpkin spice latte. It has been coded into my DNA, being the coffee lover I am, but I probably should cut back on the carbs and sugar of this delicious treat. Thanks Starbucks for creating my guilty pleasure (and my addiction). Trying to rid a coffee lover of her favorite drink is like trying to rid a drug addict from his drugs: it won't last.

4. Try to Keep Calm When Fifty Shades Darker Hits Theaters.

After reading the Fifty Shades trilogy, I fell in love. When I saw the movie, I was beyond impressed and felt as if i was in heaven. Now, my dreams are coming true again, because Fifty Shades Darker hits theaters Valentine's Day. Who needs a valentine when you have Christian Grey?

5.Study More.

Being the procrastinator that I am, should this even make the list?

6. Stop Being Socially Awkward.

I’m that awkward girl that stands to the side in the middle of a crowd, rather than forcing myself upon drunks and people that talk too loud, but this year, I am going to force myself to break out of my shell and open up to the world around me.

7. Quit Breaking Cell Phones.

After two years and going through for cell phones, being the clumsy girl I am, I think it's time that I become more cautious of water, which resulted in the death of my previous cell phones. It's time that I become more responsible with my technology, after all, money doesn't grow on trees.

8. Stop Pretending I Don't Like My Sister

My sister and I have that "love-hate" relationship, but secretly, she's my best friend.

9. Actually Press “Send” When I Text Someone Back.

Most of my friends know that I am notoriously bad at texting them back, so hopefully this year I will get better at actually hitting send before I close out of the messaging app, saving myself the agony of looking stupid and waiting for a reply that will never come.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
