My Life: The Musical

A lot of people have told me that life isn't a big musical number. They say I can't go "dancing and singing through life".

Who cares what they say. I will live my life the way I want to. If that means I am singing and dancing my way through a grand finale with a huge smile then that is what I will do!

I choose to try and make my life as fun and entertaining as a Broadway show.

Just imagine...

I wake up and the birds are chirping and I'm humming along with them as I get my shower ready and start belting the best shower song ever. I have a whole trying on clothes montage and after I make breakfast. The rest of the show just seems to fly by as I dance alongside it. There will be laughing, action, and drama throughout the entire show. Every step I take is literally choreographed leading me to my final destination.

Towards the middle of the show, I find myself in a not so great mood. This is the part of the musical where I sing along to a slow and tear-jerking ballad about the troubles or situations that are going on in my life.

After a little while though I dust it off my shoulders and I am on my way!

The next day is a bright and new day. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and I am ready to conquer the day!

The lesson here is when someone or something tries to put you down and ruin "your musical", don't let them do it! Feel your emotions, but get up and push on with the rest of your day!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
