A Letter To My Best Friends From Home

Love you long time.

First off, let me start by saying I don't know where I would be without you. You have gotten me through the tough times of the summer, the tough times at school and we really have been through it all. I know we don't always see each other as often as we would like, but you know that when we do get together, we pick up right where we left off as if we had never been apart. For that I am forever grateful for.

Thank you for making it easy to talk to you. No matter what, I know I can call on you and you will be there. Whether it is in the middle of the night at school, or the middle of the day at home. You always are there. I couldn't ask for anyone to pick me up when I'm down or just laugh with me for hours. You always know what I need and when I need it. I'm lucky to have you.

Thank you for being down for all of the crazy adventures that I make you accompany me on. Whether it be Chinese food, mini golfing, the movies or Mexican food, you hardly ever say no. I know who to call when I need to do something crazy because you don't judge me and you just do it with me. That makes me happy. Thank you for being just as crazy as me and never questioning my life choices.

Thank you for loving me even if our schedules never match up. No matter how many times we attempt to make plans it seems as if our schedules are always opposite. Yes, I realize how frustrating that can be. But thank you for loving me even if we can never match up our crazy busy lives. Thank you for making time for me always and loving me regardless. It means everything to me.

Thank you for being the best group message in my phone. I always know that you'll laugh at my joke when it really isn't that funny. That if I have a funny meme to share, you will laugh too. Thank you for giving me a place to complain, a place to share and most importantly, someone to talk to. You guys make me smile when I look at my phone.

Most importantly, thank you for being my longest friends. You've been through it all with me. The awkward middle school dances, the bad days, the good days, everything. Thank you for being the rock when I need it, the shoulder to cry on, the cheerleaders, and most importantly the best friends I could ask for. Thank you for giving me a place to be my goofy self. Thank you for being you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
