Four movies that I love.

As a lover of all things pop culture, I am a huge fan of movies. Sometimes I can be embarrassed by how much I know about movie trivia, but no matter what I still love movies. In no particular order, here is a list of some of my favorite movies!

1. As a movie buff, I love when a movie incorporates classic literature into a modern day setting. The 1999 film 10 Things I Hate About You is based on William Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew, which was one of his comedies he wrote about a father who would not let his younger daughter, Bianca, marry until her older sister, Catherine, marries first. 10 Things is a teen comedy where the father won't let the younger daughter of the same name date until her older sister, Kat, dates first. The movie will always be loved for its clever pop culture references, witty dialogue, and who can forget Health Ledger singing, Can't Take My Eyes Off of Of You on the bleachers?

2. Another movie based on classic literature that I love is 1995's Clueless. Based on Jane Austin's Emma, Clueless follows the life of Cher Horowitz as she tries to make two teachers fall in love, learn to drive, and make-over a new girl in school. In the end, she learns to make-over her soul and end her superficial ways.

3. While both 10 Things and Clueless are teen movies, another one of my favorites is the complete opposite. 1939's Gone With the Wind follows a rich southern belle, Scarlet O'Hara as her life falls apart during the Civil War. Even though she is not a likable character, her determination and strong-willed character make the movie (and book) an unforgettable classic. 1939 was the biggest years in movies, but nothing compared Gone With the Wind, which won 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture. The movie also features some of the most popular quotes including, "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn."

4. Going back to teen movies, one of the funniest movies ever made, in my opinion, is John Hughes 1986 classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off. As you can guess from the title, Ferris Bueller decides to fake being sick so he doesn't have to go to school. With his best friend Cameron Fry and his girlfriend Sloane Peterson, they all the day running around Chicago and never get caught, despite Principal Ed Rooney trying to catch Ferris who missed school "9 times".

There are way more movies that I consider as my favorites, but these four are ones that I always need to watch when they are on t.v.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
